Freen: I don't know how I didn't put two and two together. I can't believe someone like you is the daughter of that arrogant Robert Armstrong. No offense. Becca giggled.

Becca: None taken. I get it, but he's not all that bad. There was a time when he was everything I wanted in a dad. Between work and his attempt to be in politics, he's gotten more overbearing. Freen ate a spoonful of rice and covered her mouth before speaking again.

Freen: I'm guessing you don't have the best relationship with him then. Becca shook her head.

Becca: Long story short, I broke up with my fiancé. My dad loved him basically like a son and we were about to get married. That was definitely not in her file.

Freen: I hope I'm not being too intrusive. Could I know what happened? Breaking off an engagement is a huge deal.

Becca: It's okay. It doesn't hurt anymore. She took a sip of her wine before continuing. I wasn't in love with him. I spent 3 years with him and the reason why I was so happy at the time wasn't actually him. It was because he gave me a chance to be close to my father. Freen watched her carefully. My father is not the most caring man on this planet. All my life I've begged for an ounce of his affection, and he wouldn't even give me a drop of it. When Tom came into my life, dad started paying attention to me and I enjoyed it so much I ignored the lack of feelings for Tom. So, I stayed with him for selfish reasons until reality set in and I realized that I would be stuck in a loveless marriage like my parents.

Freen: Wow. What about your mom? Is she out of the picture?

Becca: She's stuck in a loveless marriage. She had two other kids before me. The first one died after birth and the second died in a car accident. I was lucky number 3, but by then they had been through so much they barely even wanted me. Mom at least made an effort to care, but Dad didn't even try.

Freen: I don't even know what to say. I'm sorry you've been through such a rough life. Becca shook her head and chuckled.

Becca: Enough about my sad, boring life. Tell me about you. The most wanted bachelorette. Freen laughed.

Freen: Well, my family had always been close especially me and my brother. When I graduated from high school my best friend died in a car accident and my relationship changed with them. I became distant and closed myself off. I even tried to avoid my brother, but he wouldn't let me push him away. Becca gave her an understanding smile. I studied management in college and came up with the idea of a flower company. With the help of my brother, we got investors and started building the company until what you see today. As soon as I was able to fully take care of myself, I bought my own house and my beautiful yellow Audi.

Becca: I'm so sorry about your friend. Freen shrugged.

Freen: I'm okay with it now. Her murderer got what they deserved so I'm at peace with it. No comments from Miss Mela. 😶

Becca: What about your love life? Freen shared a look with the waiter and pointed towards the wine bottle. He immediately brought them a second bottle with two clean glasses.

Freen: Love hasn't happened for me. I was in love with my best friend half of my life, and I never told her. Basically, I used other women to forget my feelings for her. When I realized she was who I really wanted, I didn't think I was good enough, so I just kept my feelings hidden. She died and the pain became unbearable. I promised myself I would become someone she's proud so instead of drinking and partying every night like I did when I found out, I went to the gym every day, got the best grades I possibly could, and I turned into the woman I am today.
