I pedaled furiously through the town, or what was left of the town. Most of the buildings had nothing but the foundation standing, chucked full of overgrown weeds of various shades and sizes. The road did not fare much better, more sinkholes than road. But with no way of repairing the large buildings or the roads we lumped it as is. Arriving at the school that was once an army base, I dismounted from my bike and stowed it in the shed alongside the others whose owners had arrived before me. Hunching my shoulders I walked into the main building and slammed right into the school problem child, god it hasn't been five minutes and already my day is going down hill, I thought. I apologized profusely avoiding eye contact and hurriedly made a mad dash to class just as the buzzer sounded.
A good thing I hadn't looked back, the sight of him staring at me with an intensely cold gaze and sneer on his face may well have given me a heart attack!
The day flashed by in a blur, with me running afoul of two of our instructors, just what is their problem! Sure as there are only so much of us here in the renamed area of Flame Crater so everyone needs to play their part. But trying to keep everything the same even after so many years after the event is just plain stupid! Hello hasn't anyone heard of adapting to a situation? My mood lifts somewhat when I head towards welding class, it being my favourite thing about this place. It maybe hot work but it's practical. Though getting materials to work with is kinda hard but so worth it. I grabbed my safety gear from the hook by the door, snapping the goggles into place before heading toward my latest project.
Losing track of time I wasn't even aware of my classmates coming in (not that I had any so called friends here after that incident when my ablities began to manifest, everyone started avoiding me like I was some sort of plague), that being the case I stayed like that until the buzzesr sounded for the end of the school day. I came back to myself with a jolt, this always happens when I became to engrossed in something, then I stood back to study my work.It was still a little rough around the edges but with a little more work it should come together quite well. Tiding up hurridly as not to be caught outside after curfew, I grabbed my knapsack and made my way outside with he sea of other students presently in the halls. That was when I was suddenly shoved hard into the wall. While my shoulder throbbed painfully from the blow, I glanced up upon hearing the malicious laughter of a few of the students. Two boys and three girls, I didn't know most of them well seeing as I've never even spoken to most them before but one of the girls I knew quite well, her name is Tiffany Brooks and up until recently aka two months ago she had been my best friend. I shared everything with her and her with me but apparently that doesn't count for much when her new so called best friends appeared on scene. Ignoring them I stood, brushed past them without so much as a comment and walked through the outside doors. Unlocking the chain from my bike, I mounted it in preparation to pedal back the same route I used to get to school. Paying close attention to how much more sunlight I had left before I was likely to arrive home. I don't know why but for the last couple of days I felt there was someone watching me after darkness fell.
Well here's the second chapter. Took longer with it than I expected but hey I did it! things has been a little crazy on the home front but that's life in general isn't it? It didn't help that when I came up on WP the blurb for this story was missing. And I was really proud of how it came out to, so now I'll have to rewrite it since I didn't keep a copy and I don't even remember a word of it! Also I'm doing the class with Rebecca Sky, the videos were prettey helpful, all I have to do now is submit the project. Hey! Don't think I'm procrastinating I'm doing it properly! So look forward to it because I intend to load it on WP to. :)
