she holds me slightly tighter
her body is tense as she rests her head on my chest, listening to my heartbeat.
her body is tense, as she still hasn't allowed herself to relax.

she listens to my steady heartbeat as it helps hers slow down,
her body stops being tense,
she breathes deeper and slower
she focuses on me, my heartbeat and nothing else.

one tear escapes her eyes and falls onto my shirt, more follow along.
she buries her face into my chest, making my shirt wet with her tears, but i don't mind.

tears are pouring out of her eyes, there's no stopping them, as she doesn't seem to try to either.
i allow her to do this,
to use me as comfort as i gently hold her and let her cry as much as she needs without judgement or hesitation.

she cries and cries for minutes until they finally stop.
she breathes deeply and takes in the environment around us, she realizes that she is safe with me, as she's calm now.

i keep on holding her, making sure she will be okay.
she is calm now,
i am calm.
