Anna's POV:

Friday 11th November 1983

I wake up to the sound of birds outside my window. I get out of bed and open my curtains. I open my window and look out, the air felt amazing this morning. I get my slippers on and walk downstairs. I walk into the kitchen and see joy making some tea, she offers me some and I say yes. I sit by the table and look at the magazines in the middle of the table.

Joy's POV:

I can't believe she wants to go see her mother on her own, I mean how will she handle seeing her like that again. I've told her that I could go with her but she insist on going alone. I'm getting worried about her, what if she does something bad? I just don't know if I can trust her right now. I finish making the tea and place my cup behind her. she looks up at me and smiles. she's so innocent it's terrible what happened to her. I wish I could do more for her.

Anna's POV:

I finish the cup of tea joy made for me and tell her I'm getting ready to leave. she asks me one for time I'm sure I don't want her to come. I tell her that I want to do this on my own. I stand up from my seat and walk out of the kitchen and upstairs. I open my door and sit by my desk and begin to get ready.

When I was done getting ready I walk downstairs and say goodbye to Joy before leaving. I get to the bus stop just up the road from the house and wait. About 5 minutes later the bus arrives, I get on and sit down. I arrive into the town centre and make my way to the morgue. When I get there I look up to the sigh above and see it says 'Richards Mortuary' odd name for a morgue but I went inside and checked in. I sat down and waited while they brought my mum into a room. I hear a man call my name and I walk over and smile. "shall we?" the man smiles. I nod and we walk into the room.

I walk in and see my mum laying on what seems to be a bed. I walk over to my mum and look at her. Wow, she looks perfect. How did they make her look so beautiful after what happened? "I'll give you some time to say your goodbyes" the man says closing the door behind him. I look over and nod before looking back at her. I sit down on the seat beside and there's a moment of silence. it was so nice and quiet. I wish I could talk to her again and just tell her that I love her, tell her about all my problems.

she had a long white dress on with her black heels she loved so much. I brought my teddy she got me when I was 6 when we went to a fair. I placed it in her hands and stroked her hair. she very light makeup on and I could see the scar from where the cut on her neck was. I looked away trying not to think back to that night again. i say my goodbyes and walk out of the room, closing the door.

I look up and see the same man that showed me to the room. "hi, thank you so much for taking such good care of my mum" I say walking over to him. "no worries, my darling" he smiles "by the way, I'm Steven" he adds holding out his hand "I'm Anna" I say shaking his hand. "so I hear you were studying to become a doctor?" he asks walking over to one of the sofas. "yeah, how did you know that?" I ask confused "everything comes up on the records" he laughs. I smile and sit down. "I would love to become a doctor but ever since mum has gone its been hard to focus" I say looking down. he smiles "I understand, from what I've seen you're amazing at what you do?" he says crossing his legs "apparently so" I laugh.

he looks back at me with a smile then opens this folder and hands me a letter. "this letter is an offering for a job here, it may be a bit much at first but it might help you get back on your feet" he laughs "oh thank you but I don't think I'm ready for a job right now" I say handing it back to him "please think about it, you're amazing from what I have seen and you're a lovely person to talk to" he says pushing the letter back to me. I look down at it, £8 per hour! that's insane money. "I will think about it" I smile at him. "ok, that's great" he smile standing up "feel free to come in any time and explore the place" he says waving is hand behind him. I smile and nod. "well thank you for the offer and looking after my mum so well" I say smiling and standing up "anytime, darling" he says before walking back into the room my mum is in. I stand there and look back at the letter. I do need this money, maybe I could buy a flat with this. I smile, picking up my bag and walking out the door.

I walk back to the bus stop and sit there waiting. I really want to take the job but I just don't know if I'm ready for it yet. although he did seem really nice and the pay is beautiful too. I go home and speak to Joy about it, she'll know what will be best for me.
