"So why stay? You also mentioned that you came here for me, why?" Kate asked, she was blunt and although she did feel bad for what Ami had been through, she still felt as though Ami wasn't telling her something. "I don't want to stay forever but I figured I'd come and visit an old friend and I must confess something to you but now isn't the right time. Why don't you meet me here tomorrow night?" Ami said, unfazed by Kate's bluntness. "Fine, I'll meet you here tomorrow. Anyways, why did you leave all those years ago?" Kate asked, finally able to ask the question that has haunted her for years.

Ami was surprised by the question and hung her head low, as though guilty of something. "It was because of you." Was all Ami said before turning tail and running, leaving Kate with more questions than answers. "Well that was odd." Kate said to herself.
...

Kate left soon after Ami took off, deciding to take a route that took her along the wolves and hers shared boundary. "Well if it isn't the Vixen." A voice said just beyond the boundary. It was Weaver, Alex's second in command, his muzzel was bloody from just taking down a decent sized elk. "Yeah and?" Kate questioned the wolf, unafraid of his size. "Oh, nothing. We just don't see to much of you or your brother this close to the border." He said.

"Well we don't really need to patrol the border. I just came this way to clear my head." Kate replied truthfully.

"Ahh, Alex likes to do that to. Anyway you and your brother are more than welcome to visit anytime." Weaver said.

Kate cooked her head questioning the unsuspected invitation. "I'll have to decline this time, I don't mean to be rude but I still don't trust you or your Alpha. Although Elder Nora has proven herself to be trustworthy, if I find out she's nothing more than a spy..." she was cut off by Weavers deep chuckle.

"The old lady never listens to Alex, if anything he listens to her. She'll do what she wants, when she wants." Weaver said. "That's good to know, anyway I'll be taking my leave." Kate said and Weaver bowed his head, watching the vixen leave eithout another word. "Such a strange fox." Weaver said to himself before taking his kill by the neck and dragging it back home.
...

"Nice kill." Someone said as Weaver dropped his catch of the day. "Thanks, Alex. How's construction coming along?" Weaver said, watching as his friends smile faltered. "Not as smoothly as I would like it. Vern tried playing superwolf with a stack of logs and ended up with a broken leg, Xavier ended up with a badly bruised leg when the logs fell. It will put a delay on building for at least two days but with winter looming ever closer we will have to focus more on hunting." Alex said and Weaver shook his head. "Hopefully Vern will learn from this. Its not like we are in a hurry, we have been normadic for quite awhile, becoming a pack can wait until next summer." Weaver said. "I agree with you Weaver, but the worry of rouges is a constant worry. If they get word that a new pack is trying to form then they'll hunt us down." Alex said and Weaver nodded in understanding, "Then we keep building. Yes Vern and Xav being injured is a set back but as long as we are careful we can get most of the building done before winter hits, and finish the rest in mid-spring."

"I'll go and let everyone know. Anyway you find anything interesting on your hunt, you were gone for a bit longer than usual this time?" Alex asked. "Oh nothing interesting, just saw the Vixen today. Had a chat, more talking on my part than hers. They like to keep to themselves for the most part." Weaver said and Alex nodded in agreement. "Their about as mysterious as Elder Nora, that old vixen doesn't listen to a word I say."

Weaver let out a snicker, "We'll I'm gonna go bring this to Illiad." Weaver said and the two said goodbye each going their own way.
...

Illiad was ecstatic to see a full grown buck, "Thankyou, Weav." Her crystal blue eyes showed with pride as she looked over the elk. "It's a beauty alright." Weaver said, he had shifted to his human form while he watched his wife work. Illiad had a talent for skinning and cutting up the animals that were killed. Her black hair was braided straight down and reached the curve of her back.

"You know staring is rude." Illiad said putting her knife down and turning to look at him. "Tell me, love, what's on your mind?" She asked and Weaver let out a sigh, "Alex is worried about us being attacked by rouges, I don't blame him but we haven't seen a single rouge since we've gotten here."

Illiad looked at him and smiled, "And yet you know he has a point. We were nomadic, trying to find a place to call home, and now we have. Rouges aren't exactly friendly when they come to find out that." Her words rang true and Weaver grabbed his wife and hugged her. "You are far wiser than you look." Weaver said.  "Well I would hope that I am far wiser than I look since I'm the one who got you out of a lot of trouble when we were younger." Illiad said with a smile and Weaver chuckled, "Got me out of trouble? Last time I checked you got us mostly in trouble. God it's been such a long time since me, you, and Alex just got to run. Just the three of us." "I know I miss it too but he became the alpha and you became his beta. You each have your own responsibilities, let alone I don't think Alex likes to encroach on us." Illiad said and Weaver smiled. "Well hopefully he'll find someone who will compliment him just as you compliment me."

Illiad smiled and the two spent the rest of the day together.

Hello,

Author here, I know this chapter was a little bit all over the place and I do apologize for that.

I think I'll be releasing some character information soon. Also most of the main characters are around the same age either in their early to mid twenty, Elder Nora is obviously the exception.

Well anyways have a good night or day or evening or after noon.
