The only thing that filled my lungs on that dreadful day was chemicals. I couldn't smell anything but bleach, and my taste buds only became familiar with cleaning fluids of several different kinds. What happened? Well, let's see.

It was a misty day that New Year's Day. I'd tell you the year, but I genuinely can't remember—my brain remains clouded with that dreadful feeling of being drowned by cleaning solutions. I was by the pool with my two good friends, Asher and Penny. We were just hanging out. I was the only one turned away from the pool at some point. When I looked back, it was colored differently; it had gone from a lovely clear blue to a greenish grey. I had forgotten it was the day of the pool being cleaned, so my dumb self decided to go for a swim.

Reader, what do you think happened when I got in? I'll tell you one thing. It wasn't good. My eyes burned, and I felt my skin burning as well as I screamed in pain. Penny and Asher reached out their hands to try and get me out, but I was blinded by the bleachy feeling. As more and more of it crowded my mouth and lungs, it was harder and harder to breathe, until someone threw out a rope, which I grabbed. Everyone present worked together to get me out, and I still don't know why. I was stupid. Why would they save an idiot? As I was pulled out of the water, coughing terribly, I had one thought: I'm about to die.

But alas, I somehow didn't. I don't know how I lived. Maybe it was because they pulled me out of the water and rushed to call Poison Control for the chemicals that had made their way into my respiratory system. But I was the one who did this, I made the mistake.. so why did they help me? Either way, I lived, and now I'm extremely afraid of pools, hah.

A/N: What did you think? I don't know, because it felt like a good idea but I didn't get it onto the page that good. In my opinion it was a good idea but bad execution.
