I pull up at the mall right on time. I text Eleanor to tell her I'm here, and she answers just a second later saying she is waiting for me inside.
The parking lot is not empty, but it appears that there are only a few more people than me and Eleanor here today, which is always a good thing. I hate shopping when the mall is crowded.
When I get inside, I immediately hear Eleanor's gleeful voice.
"Hi Elsa! I'm so happy you could meet me without the boys. Harry and Louis are such bad shoppers. Well, Harry isn't, when he's alone, Harry has great taste. But when Louis comes along, Harry gets all distracted and Louis is always takes advantage of how Harry does everything for him. So happy to finally have someone on my side." She rambles on, then flushing, beet red in the face. "Sorry, that was forward."
I get a little bit confused. Aren't there any other girls in the group and entourage around One Direction she can hang out with?
"Don't Liam and Zayn's girlfriends hang out here too?" I ask, and Eleanor seems really confused by my question.
"They have jobs home in England, they can't just follow their boyfriends around the world. This isn't he fifties. Women can have lives when their men isn't around too." She laughs. "Let's go to Starbucks, I need a frappuccino." Eleanor links our arms together and lead me to the coffee shop in the middle of the mall. She's smiling as she's telling some story about something funny Louis did this morning to wake Harry up, but I don't pay close attention. Eleanor is really pretty when she smiles, her face shines up and her eyes sparkle. I understand why she's always on gossip blogs.
"I have never seen anyone running faster for shelter, and you know what he did next?" Eleanor looks at me, and I blush, because I had just been staring at her for like five minutes. "He texted me, asking me to save him. It was six in the morning, there was no way I was gonna go help that moron from a situation he put himself in."
"He sounds crazy." I hadn't been paying attention, but I pretended that I did, because staring at people is weird.
"He is. But he knows when to be serious too. And we love his little pranks, they're never meant to hurt anyone. He's a great friend." Eleanor smiles at me. We have reached the coffee shop now, and since there are no other customers, we are first in line. "You can order yours, then I pay for both of us." She says and I try to protest. I can pay for my own drinks, I'm not a charity case.
"I can pay-" I start, but Eleanor interrupts me.
"Elsa, I'll pay this time, then you can buy me a coffee next time. Deal?" And that sounds like a way for her to get to pay but that she's hoping I'll forget it, but I won't. I'll make sure I get to buy her something back in the future.
"Deal." I smile, and so does she, a little red on her cheeks, as she looks away for a second, while I order my frappuccino. The barista writes El on it, and when Eleanor asks for the same flavour as me, he writes El on her cup too.
"I'll make sure I get to pay for you once too, you know." I say to Eleanor as we are handed our drinks and sit down in two armchairs. She just smiles wider and giggles a little, a delightful sound.
"I'm counting on it." She winks, before reaching over to grab my frappuccino and putting it next to hers on the table. Then she brings out her phone and takes a picture of them, the identical cups with the same nicknames on them.
They look good together, and I pick my phone up from my bag and snap a picture that I send to Harry with the caption
We like coffee!! <3
Eleanor types something on her phone, then looks like she's thinking hard about something, before erasing it and typing something shorter. Then she turns to me.
"Do you have Instagram?" She asks, and I shake my head. "Then you have to get one. I'll help you make an account. It's really simple. Come here." She says and leans closer to me.
"Okay, what do I do?" I ask as I open my phone.
"Well, first you have to download the app." She says as I click on Appstore. Instagram is on the top downloaded so I don't have to search for it. I click download and it only takes a minute until it's done. "See, now you just follow the directions, and then I'll show you all the features later."
I follow the directions to create an account. I am lucky enough to get elsavalentine94 as my username, and I type out my email address and a password. I tell Eleanor my username and she smiles as she types something on her phone.
"You might want to change your notification settings right away. I just posted a picture and tagged you so you'll probably get loads of followers pretty quick." Eleanor says and shows me how to change the settings so I'll only get notifications when someone I follow interacts with me. "I'll also follow all the people that you need to follow." She adds and starts typing out things and clicking buttons on my phone so I follow her, Harry, Louis and the other boys in the band. "There we go. Now let me show you how to find more people to follow."
She starts her lesson in Instagramming, and I get two texts back from Harry a couple minutes later
I followed you back on Instagram. Hope Eleanor helped you with the notification settings.xx
Glad you two are having fun together ;) I knew you two would like each other.xx
And he is right. I like Eleanor a lot. She is a great person and we have the same sense of humor. We spend the rest of the day together, looking in shops, buying matching necklaces, having fun. When I am on my way back home, I think how lucky I was to meet Harry in that coffee shop.
