6 weeks later
Final exams were in one week so everyone was studying very intently.
Arthit was very uncomfortable and very big now. He couldn't move quickly or stealthily any more. He would have been happy if he hadn't developed pregnancy brain with this round, but that hope was dashed about 4 weeks ago when Kongpob had found his phone and the TV remote in the fridge. Kong had laughed at that, but it had taken Arthit a while to see the funny in it.
Their two babies had grown considerably, one being 4lbs 8oz and the other 4lbs 10oz. The doctors kept saying that they were big for twins at this stage, but that it wasn't anything to worry about. They still had about 6 weeks to grow, but the doctor also said that he would have the babies early as that was normal for multiples.
Wad had, indeed, stayed on bed rest for the two weeks, but according to Prem it hadn't been quietly. There had been a lot of complaining and threats made to Prem's wellbeing. But Prem had kept firm, constantly reminding Wad that it was for the safety of their baby.
The atmosphere at the university had also changed 2 weeks earlier when one brave person had approached Arthit and Kongpob. She had been another freshman, but one who Kongpob didn't recognize. She had explained that she had transferred right after Sotus and that her nickname was Lala. She had apparently made friends really fast and they were all curious about why Arthit was not his normal active self. She was very bold in asking for this information, even going so far as asking if he was pregnant. Of course, she had immediately told them she was joking. But the pair realized, it was the best chance for them to tell others about their family.
"Yes. Actually, he is. We have another child as well, he is almost 2 now."
Kongpob's response after getting a nod from Arthit, who was just tired at this point of keeping this from everyone, had made the girl freeze in shock. The girl had looked at them like they were crazy, before apparently taking the time to think about it and walked away back to her table of friends. Since then the news of them expecting had spread far and wide. Some obviously didn't believe it, but others had approached the pair to wish them good luck with, and congratulations on, the new baby.
Arthit really didn't know how to deal with others knowing or commenting on him being pregnant, so each time it happened he would freeze and stay silent. Usually either Kongpob or one of his friends would say something so the person would leave.
Getting to each class was so tiring and painful at this point that he couldn't pay attention as well to what was being taught, so Arthit's friends had taken to making a copy of their notes for him to study later. Homework got done slower than before, but with help from Kongpob he did finish it all on time.
The couple went to see their parents and their son every other weekend now as it was not safe for them to travel, especially on Kongpob's bike. They had talked about having his car on school grounds, but Arthit didn't like to think about all the added costs and frustrations a parking spot would be for the car. They didn't need to go to many places so calling a car each time was better in his mind.
Arthit and Kongpob couldn't wait for their finals to be over and this year of school to be done, so they could go home and wait for the babies to be born. Their parent's couldn't wait either, as proven by the new items in the nursery. As they didn't know about the twins, they had added one crib with purple and yellow sheets and blankets. They had decided to wait to find out the genders of the babies until after they had arrived, so the mother's had decided on purple and yellow as gender neutral colors for this new baby.
Kongpob had continued to throw out names for the babies with most of them being immediately rejected. There have been a few that Arthit added to his list of possible names, but the most surprising thing had been when their friends had begun to suggest their own list of names for them to consider. Arthit had written some of those down as well, so the list was getting really long now and their time to choose was getting closer and closer. They had agreed to see their new babies before choosing their name to make sure they matched the names.
Leaving campus the Friday before exams began, Kongpob and Arthit had decided to visit their families that weekend so they had called a car to be at their dorms in an hour and a half, so they had time to get home and get to the pick up point. This weekend would probably be the last time they would be able to travel to see their parents until after the exam results, if not until after the babies were born.
It took them 45 minutes to walk home and pick up their bags, as Arthit was in quite a bit of pain at that moment. Another 20 minutes went by before they were able to make it outside to the meeting place. Luckily, there was a bench near by as they still had 25 minutes left before the car would be there to pick them up. Arthit sighed in relief as he settled into the seat, leaning back to allow his back muscles to rest and relax as much as they would. Kongpob tried to help by messaging his shoulders, but it really didn't do much. Arthit didn't tell him that as he knew it made Kongpob feel like it was doing something to help when he couldn't take any of the pain on himself. Kongpob had been watching his partner and seeing all of the pain take over his face with each passing day, but couldn't do anything about it.
"I think, these two should be our last." He suddenly said, startling Arthit into trying to look over his shoulder, twisting as much as he could. Kong moved around to sit beside him to make it easier for him.
"What? What do you mean?" Arthit asked, knowing what the words meant, but was unsure exactly what his partner meant by them.
"Well, being pregnant seems to hurt you a lot and I hate seeing you in pain. This will be baby two and three, which is a lot to handle especially with all of them being under 5 and in diapers. Having our parents willing to help out is great, but we should try to do as much on our own as we can. You will graduate next year, but before that you have to do your internship. Which is going to take up a lot of your time and you are going to be exhausted from that and school work alone."
"But both times have been an accident. How do we prevent this from happening again?" Arthur asked, genuinely curious.
"I don't know, but maybe we can talk to the doctor. He may have an few ideas for us besides the obvious." Kongpob suggested, putting a hand on Arthur's leg.
Arthur sat quietly for a moment thinking, but eventually nodded.
The car eventually arrived and they climbed in, directing the driver to where they wanted to be.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
They were welcomed happily as they entered Kongpob's family house. Arthit was overwhelmed with the attention of his and Kongpob's mother as they cuddled him, touching his belly and asking him how he was feeling.
Kong laughed with his and Arthit's father, seeing his partner still not sure how to respond to their attentions. Arthit kept glancing over at him before attempting to voice his discomfort again, but his mother reassured him. Again.
Several minutes later, Kongpob finally helped Arthit away from their mothers with little Fiat, explaining that they wanted to spend time with him as much as possible as they would be without him until after their final exams.
They made their way out of the living area into their own rooms and settled in Fiat's room on the floor with several toys for their son to play with. They watched their son pick up a stuffed bear which was well worn.
Instead of sitting down to play with it, he toddled over to them and sat between them, laying his head on Arthit's lap. Clearly, their son had missed them a lot and it broke their hearts to see him like this.
A/N: I have been very busy with life and work as well as participating in NaNoWriMo in November, working on my book. I was able to accomplish the challenge, but it took a lot out of me, so this chapter took longer than I wanted.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
And I hope everyone has an amazing new year!!
