"So. Who wants to go first and tell me what happened during breakfast?" Emma asked, setting down her cup of tea on the coffee table.

Amara bit her lip with a scowl on her face.

Hope was silent. Staring out the window.

Amara lifted her head to see what Hope was waiting for. Because Hope always talks...

"I'll go first. Hope here decided to grab me and throw me into her room to put some dirty, moldy, smelly, white cloth on my face to clean off the blood on my face. Even though I was healing and completely fine." Amara scowled looking at Hope the entire time she was ranting about what happened. While Hope had a huge scowl on her face, hearing Amara talk.

"Okay... And why did that make you so upset you decided to throw orange juice on your friend, Amara?" Emma carefully asked.

"Both of you need to own up to your mistakes so we can help this friendship." Mr. Saltzman said, opening his desk drawer and grabbing a 'talking stone'. It was Emma's idea. Obviously.

"Thank you, Alaric." Emma softly said, grabbing the stone from him and holding it open in her palm.

The girl's heads turned towards the stone with furrowed eyebrows but once they looked at each other the furrowed brows went away, and scowls appeared on their faces.

"This is the talking stone. Whoever is holding it, can talk. But it mutes the others in the room, so we can truly find out what happened." Emma said, holding the stone out to Hope. But when Hope went to grab it, Amara slapped her hand making her hand drop and then she quickly grabbed the stone.

"That was not what made me upset. What made me upset was that she grabbed me when she didn't talk to me for months! And then this morning she said she was sorry but then made up another excuse!" Amara scowled.

"She fucking ghosted me. And you wanna know her excuse?" Amara asked with an undertone. Emma nodded and Amara turned towards Hope, finishing her sentence off, staring at Hope so Hope could see that Amara was furious.

"She was feeling something weird." Amara sneered.

Hope sighed. "I told you that-" and that was when Amara realized... the stone didn't work.

"Fuck this shit. The stone doesn't even work." Amara yelled, standing up abruptly and speed walking towards the door.

"And you know what, Mr. Saltzman? If you're going to treat me like a child, I will fucking act like it. So, fuck all of you." Amara yelled, slamming the door behind her, and making everyone in the room jump.

Emma sighed and went to pick up the stone.

"Why is she so angry?" Emma softly asked Alaric.

Hope sighed and knew why but decided against telling them.

You see, Amara had a health problem. She's had it since she was six years old.

Lyme's Disease.

When untreated or unmedicated you can expect, emotional distress, depression, lack of motivation, hyperactivity, anger, lashing out, psychosis episodes, shitty memory, and more.

Amara was diagnosed with it, seven months ago. And the only people who knew were her aunt and uncle, Josie, and Hope.

The teachers at school didn't know, and neither did the nurses. Amara was responsible for taking her own medicine and she kept the pain and everything to herself.

"Ugh!" Amara screamed, slamming her dormitory door open before slamming so hard, it broke the windows.

"Oh fuck, fuck fuck fuck!" She screamed, grabbing her hair and tugging on it.
