vii. manipulate and wait , episode seven ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
DO HYUN stared at himself in the bathroom mirror. He wore a plain white Tee-shirt and a pair of baggy jeans, along with a cardigan to throw it all together. He was about to leave his home for his date with Junwoo.
Do hyun had been on a few dates in the past, but only ever with women. Most men he'd been with romantically never wanted more than one night with him. He never held it against them, due to the stigma of homosexual relationships in Korea but it hurt, nonetheless.
Junwoo didn't seem to want that though. Junwoo had been his friend for quite some time and Do hyun trusted him with his feelings. Perhaps this date wasn't such a bad idea after all.
The man sighed and left is home, in order for the date to go well it has to actually happen, he can't just stand and contemplate his life. He texted Junwoo he was on his way to the designated location, said man texted him a thumbs up emoji which was quickly followed up by a heart eye emoji. Do hyun chuckled at his screen, rolling his eyes to himself as he pocketed his phone.
Arriving at the destination Do hyun was greeted by a warm and bubbly Junwoo, who practically bounced over to him and gave him a side hug. "Wow! Do hyun, you look so good! I look so old compared to you!" Junwoo pouted, making the other laugh.
"You're not even that much older than me!" Do hyun laughed as he shook the other off of him. "Okay, okay! Come on, let's go inside!" Junwoo said, grabbing his arm and leading him inside of the cafe in front of them.
"I'm surprised you didn't try to take me to some fancy restaurant you heard about on instagram or something." Do hyun commented as they sat at a table near a window. "It crossed my mind, I won't lie. I wanted to take you someplace that you would never forget.. I wanted to give you only the best. But..! I knew you're not exactly the fancy-fancy kind of guy, so I settled for a cafe." The other explained and he nudged Do hyun's leg under the table with his own.
Do hyun smiled, "It's really great, Junwoo. Thank you." The other one waved his hand in the air as a 'don't mention it' gesture. "So, what looks good to you?" Junwoo asked, his eyes skimming over a small menu pamphlet that was leaned up on a cute stand on the edge of the table.
"Hmmm.. what about a slice a cake? Maybe a latte as well.." Do hyun muttered aloud. "Get anything you want, this date is about you!" Junwoo smiled reassuringly as he grabbed Do hyun's hand that was laying on the table.
Do hyun looked up at the other, taking in a breath as he glanced around the cafe to see if anyone was watching them. Junwoo noticed his discomfort and withdrew his hand, "Sorry.." he muttered sadly. A wave of guilt passed through Do hyun as he saw the look on the other man's face. "No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't worry about what others think." He said carefully, reaching out for the hand that held his.
