“Ares, what is the meaning of this?” Zeus asks, annoyed. He and Hera had been in the middle of talking. Things were amiss on Mt. Olympus. It had been so long since anybody had worshipped them. Their power was almost non-existent, and they would soon fade like the beautiful paint on their now marble-white monuments.

“I have a plan, Zeus, to get back some of our power,” Ares offers. Zeus raises his eyebrows, interested.

“What do you mean?” he asks in response. Ares lays out the plan, impressing the head of the Gods. Of course it’s a brilliant plan- Ares is the God of War, and war requires intricate strategy. His half-sister, Athena, may be the Goddess of that, but she would never come up with something as sinister and cruel as this.

“Brilliant,” Zeus tells Ares. He beckons to Iris, who has temporarily taken Hermes’ spot as Zeus’ messenger. The beautiful girl, the personification of a rainbow, walks up to the far-superior God.

“Iris, will you fetch Poseidon for me?” Zeus asks. The girl goes running off wordlessly to fetch Zeus’ brother, the God of the Ocean. Ares grins wildly at his father. His mother, Hera, nods at him.

Poseidon arrives, and, one by one, the minds of the Gods are wiped, they’re given a special token of their powers and sent down to be reborn on the modern world to use their powers to force the mortals to worship and idolize them. The only way for them to return is to assemble in one room, with at least one of them having realized what they are.
