She woke with a start. Another nightmare. She shook the memory from her head as she stood, stretching her back and popping her neck. She glanced around the room, a decrepit version of a hotel room. She sighed; ever since she lost her army job, she'd never been able to hold another; something always went wrong. At her first retail job, immediately after she was discharged, it went bankrupt and couldn't pay its workers. The manager fired her for looking too gruff in the second retail job. Cooking hadn't worked; she wasn't sure how, but it was burnt down, although neither she nor the cops could prove how. After that, she spent a small amount of time jobless, looking for manual labor jobs but not finding any that hired her. Now, she was working at a small plumbing company, but she was pretty sure they would lay her off as the workload was so low. They'd already laid off multiple other, higher-paid workers that didn't quite do as well of a job as she does.
She cleared the memories from her past with a click splash of what she hoped was clean water before she got herself cleaned up and dressed for her day. She walked down to the front of the hotel and checked herself out. While gathering her items and putting them in her truck, She made a mental note of the layout of the building, just as she had been trained to do for decades. She felt like nothing would go wrong, but she was always alert. This time was no different. Walking through the front door of her second trip to the truck, she dropped one of the books she had carried out, cursing under her breath as she did so. She bent down to pick up the book and sighed, seeing the title. "The angels of Imperan: a guide and knowledge book to the Realms." She loved the book; it fascinated her, as well as tales of soldiers, demons, and the Nine realms, which she thought couldn't exist. It wasn't feasible, nor was it realistic. Nine separate realms or more? It was wack. But the book was written in the best way possible.
