Elaine "Laney" Henderson sat bored on the couch in her brother's best friend's basement. She groaned in annoyance and ran her hand through her long brown hair as she attempted to read her magazine about Michael Jackson while the boys played their game.

"Something's coming... Something hungry for blood." Mike Wheeler announced. The three other boys leaned in closer with nervous yet anticipating looks on their faces. "A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness... It's almost here."

"What is it?" Will Byers asked the dungeon master eagerly.

"What if it's the Demogorgon-? Oh, Jesus, we're so screwed if it's the Demogorgon!" Laney's younger brother, Dustin expressed, clearly concerned for the sake of their party.

"It's not the Demogorgon." Lucas Sinclair, the last of the boys, stated confidently. Laney nodded in agreement, her face still buried in her magazine.

"It's too obvious." She agreed with the latter's statement and flipped her page over. Mike waited with an amused look on his face for his friends to settle down.

"An army of Troglodytes charge into the chamber!" He revealed and slammed six little winged figures down onto their game board.

"Troglodytes?!" Dustin exclaimed, obviously not expecting such an easily defeated foe to appear.

"Told ya so." Both Lucas and Laney spoke at the same time as they high-fived. Mike suddenly looked over his shoulder, his eyes growing wide.

"Wait... Do you hear that?? Boom! Boom! BOOM!" Laney hid her laugh as Mike slammed his hands on the table, then continued. "It didn't come from the Troglodytes. No that- That came from something else..." The young teens leaned in closer to Mike and Laney sat up from her previous laying position on the Wheelers' couch.

"The Demogorgon!!!" Dustin, Lucas, and Will groaned.

"We're in deep shit." The toothless boy sighed.

"Language." Laney smacked the back of his head lightly.

"Will, your action!" Mike encouraged. Will swallowed the ball in his throat, certainly wishing it was anyone else's turn.

"I- I don't know!" He replied uncertain of his next move.

"Fireball him!" Lucas yelled at the poor boy.

"I'd have to roll a thirteen or higher!" He reasoned back.

"Too risky. Cast a protection spell." Dustin fought back.

"Don't be a pussy!! Fireball him!"

"Language!"

"Cast Protection!!" Will looked exasperatedly at Laney who shrugged with a small smile.

"It's a 40% chance you get thirteen or higher, it's your call Will. Do what you think is best." She said supportively to the small boy.

"Though the Demogorgon admires Laney's encouragement, he's tired of your silly human bickering! It stomps towards you. Boom!"

"Fireball him!!" Lucas yelled once more.

"Another stomp. BOOM!"

"Cast protection!!" Dustin shook his head at Lucas. The pair continue yelling at each other and Laney rolls her eyes.

"He roars in anger!"

"Fireball!" Will shouts and throws the die which flies off their small table to the other side of the basement. The older girl bursts out into laughter as the boys clammer out of their seats, Will knocking his over as he does so.
