When they got to the hotel Betty was still fast asleep. Simon sat for a second trying to think of the best way to wake her up without scaring her. He lightly tapped her shoulder. Betty screamed and hit her head on the ceiling of the car. "Are you ok??? Oh my gosh! Betty I'm so sorry!!!!!" He said. Betty looked at Simon with an embarrassed smile on her face. "We really gotta stop doing that." They both laughed.
The two began to get their things and  walked toward the entrance of the hotel, It wasn't fancy. But it had a home-y feel about it.
At the front office, a teenage girl was at the lobby area. "How can I help you guys tonight? She said in a monotone bored voice. "We had room 108 and 109, just coming to get the keys!" Simon said happily. "108 AND 109?" Said the teen in a confused voice. "It says here you only booked 108".  The 2 travelers stood there in silence. Betty was wide awake now. "Are there any other rooms?" The Dr ask. "Too late dude. Besides, don't you wanna share a room with your girlfriend here?" The girl said with a smirk. "Those rooms are pretty soundproof you know."
Simon and Betty blushed heavily. The girl began to talk some more but Petrikov cut her off. "It's ok, we can take the room." Betty's face went cold. Simon grabbed the key and they headed towards the room.
"Uhhh Dr Petrikov?" Said Betty in a shaky voice. "Don't worry Betty, I'm going to sleep in the car." Said Simon. "No!! I'll sleep in the car! You should rest!" He shook his head and laughed. "I'll help you carry your bags to your room." Betty blushed but nodded her head. "Thank you."
After getting Bettys bags up to her room the professor went straight back to the door and said goodnight. The last thing he wanted to do was make her uncomfortable.
As he was about to leave, Betty said awkwardly " there's a couch in here, we could take turns sleeping on the bed or on the couch." She said innocently. "Thank you dear" he said with a smile. "But we can talk about the sleeping arrangements later. Tonight I'll be in the car."
Betty said that she understood. But honestly she was scared to be by herself in a place she didn't know. The 2 parted ways and planned to meet each other at breakfast downstairs in the morning.
Throughout the night Betty couldn't stay asleep. It was 3am and she was freaked out by the sounds and shadows coming from her room. Betty got out of bed, wearing her long white T-shirt and shorts. She went over to the entrance of the room and turned the light back on.
"Maybe I could grab a snack from the car to feel better." She thought. Dr petrikov left her a spare key for the car just in case of an emergency. So she grabbed the key and went downstairs. If she was quiet enough she wouldn't wake the Professor. So she gently opened the car door just enough to grab the snack cakes.
She started walking away until she realized that she left her journal in the front seat of the car. The last thing Betty wanted was for the book to fall open for Petrikov to accidentally see her deepest, weirdest secrets. So she quietly opened the passenger seat where he was lying down. The book was in sight but it was beside him. Her heart was beating so fast and she couldn't stop staring at the sleeping man in front of her.
He looked like he was in his own peaceful world. A beautiful person. Betty was so scared to wake him up. But after 10 minutes of thinking, she got the courage to try and grab it. She gently reached for book. But to her dismay, her foot slipped and she faceplanted on his chest. "FUCK" thought Betty.
Simon let out a soft breath, startled. How was she even going to explain this. He's going to think she's some kind of pervert. She began to cry. "Are you ok dear?" He calmly ask. "IM SORRY I WAS HUNGRY AND FREAKED OUT BY THE NOISES AND MY JOURNALS HERE AND IM NOT A CREEP AND-" Betty suddenly stopped.
Simon looked at her calmly and sincerely. "Did you find your journal?" He ask kindly. "Yes I did."she said softly. "Can I ask you a favor? And please don't take this the wrong way." She ask. Simon remarked with "of course Betty, what is it."  She looked away and to ask him. "Can you please stay on the couch tonight? It's overwhelming for me to be up there by myself." He didn't look as shocked as she thought he would. "Are you sure?" He ask. "Yes." She said in a calm but sure tone. "Well let me make this clear, I don't want to ever make you uncomfortable. So if you decide in a hour that you don't want me up there, I'll come back here. Just promise to be honest with me." He said seriously. Betty agreed.
The two went up to their hotel room and shut the door.  Simon began to grab a pillow and blanket from one of his bags. Betty (whos bed was only a couple feet away from the couch) smiled. Somehow she felt safer now that he was here. "You know Betty?" Simon began. "I'm glad you came with me. I can't wait to show you the mountains tomorrow." She looked over at him with the sheets half covering her face. "I'm glad to be here too." She smiled.  Then the both of them fell soundly to sleep.
