I. Star Crossed.
Central Park is bustling with bodies of young adults many representing the topic of couples as they were huddled up together on the soft grassy ground, a blanket keeping them warm, and food that they spent good money on to keep them company.
Tonight just so happened to be the annual Central Park Film Festival and Sadé managed to snag last-minute tickets to watch the screening of Bad Boys. She could care less about watching the movie but since her boyfriend was a huge fan of Martin Lawrence she would've been a bad girlfriend to say no.
The heavy bass sounds of hip-hop mingled in the air with that from some cars that just so happened to be parked in the corners.
A shaft of light peeks from the drive-in's projector, causing those who were doing rather explicit things between the blankets to cover their face, their inhabitants engaging in various threes of sexual foreplay. Some are kissing; others are making love, or just enjoying one another's presence.
Love is in the air. However, one couple in particular made it obvious that they were in love. If there was one song to describe her, it would be Around The Way Girl by LL Cool J. She was the representation of a girl who was down for whatever, her honey with soft brown skin, full brown eyes, and full lips glowing naturally. Sadé Clark is her name but most people called her Slim.
With her hair styled in a pixie cut, she occasionally played with that one strand that wouldn't stay still for anything. Dressed in all black the slight cool air brushed against her cheek which made her happy since she decided to wear a jacket.
At the age of twenty, she was looking for something serious and thought she found that with her boyfriend Mike. Eyebrows stitched together in concentration as she tried to focus on the movie but a groan escaped her glossy lips as Mike left kisses down her neck.
Now Mike was an interesting fellow, on his way to become a hoop star but due to family trouble he ended up becoming a man in the streets. After getting arrested he made it his mission to not get caught up anymore and promised Sadé that he'd be the man that she wanted him to be. Educated and with his head on straight.
As high school sweethearts, they were down for whatever when it came to each other, having known each other as kids before venturing into their feelings as teens.
One of her hands was placed in the popcorn bowl as she barely acknowledged his acts of affection and only smacked his hand when he attempted to pull her up.
"C'mon, let's leave this place and go somewhere more private." He attempts to get her to leave but Sadé stops him.
"No, Mike, I wanna watch the movie." Pointing a manicured finger in his direction she turns her attention back towards the movie, "If you think that you're gettin' any of this tonight, think again."
"C'mon baby don't do me like this." Turning her head Mike goes to kiss her again. This time, it's a nice, long, slow kiss filled with gentleness that'll make any woman swoon. Although she says nothing at first it's obvious that she's affected which prohibits her from asking the one question that's been bothering her lately.
"Mike, do you love me?" It came out hesitant, almost scared. As she said it, Sadé's thoughts couldn't help but race ten times faster than they usually would. All because of said question.
With his usual charming smile, Mike answers, "Of course I love you."
With an eyebrow raised, she continues her questioning, "Why? Tell me why you love me." A lot of women wanted to know the reason as to why their significant other loved them. Could it be for the things they offered, body-wise, money-wise, or could it be how they acted emotionally and figuratively?
