Time in captivity blurred together for Mayia. Days turned into weeks, and she lost count of how long she had been imprisoned in the medical bay. Dr. Ivanov's visits were frequent, and each time he brought fresh torment and reminders of her past.
One day, as Mayia lay restrained on the cot, her body weakened from the constant monitoring and experimentation, Dr. Ivanov entered the room with a triumphant gleam in his eyes.
"Subject B-437, I have a special treat for you today," he sneered, relishing in her suffering.
Mayia's gaze narrowed, her voice weak but defiant. "What do you want now?"
Dr. Ivanov ignored her question and instead motioned for someone to enter the room. The figure that stepped through the doorway sent a shock of disbelief through Mayia's already battered body.
It was a girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to Mayia herself. Her features were strikingly similar—same hair color, same eyes, same bone structure. But there was a hollowness in her eyes, a vacant expression that spoke of pain and submission.
"Meet your twin sister, Abby," Dr. Ivanov announced with a cruel smile. "Or rather, the sister you used to be."
Mayia's heart constricted as she looked at the girl who stood before her. It was true; she did have a twin sister named Abby. They had been inseparable as children until HYDRA had torn them apart. Mayia had always wondered what had happened to her sister, and now, seeing her here, broken and obedient, filled her with a mixture of relief and sorrow.
Abby didn't speak; she simply stared at Mayia with vacant eyes. Dr. Ivanov seemed to take pleasure in demonstrating just how thoroughly he had broken her spirit.
"Abby here is a model subject," he boasted. "No defiance, no resistance. She's the perfect killer, just as you used to be."
Mayia felt a surge of anger and sadness. Abby had suffered just as she had, and now she was nothing more than a tool in HYDRA's hands.
"Why are you showing me this?" Mayia demanded, her voice trembling.
Dr. Ivanov's smile widened. "To remind you of what you once were, and what you could be again. We broke you, Subject B-437, but we can rebuild you. You and Abby could be our greatest assets."
Mayia's heart sank as she realized the true purpose of this cruel display. They wanted to turn her and her sister into weapons once more, to erase any trace of their former selves.
As she looked at Abby, her twin's vacant eyes meeting her own, Mayia knew that she had to find a way to resist, to protect her sister from the same fate that had befallen her. She couldn't let HYDRA win, not again.
But the odds seemed insurmountable, and hope felt like a distant, fading light in the darkness of their captivity.

Mayia's heart sank further as she watched HYDRA agents drag Bucky into the room. He was battered and bloodied, his face bearing the marks of a brutal struggle. Despite the injuries, his eyes held a flicker of defiance, a determination to resist their control.
They forced Bucky into the same ominous chair that Mayia remembered from her own past—the chair that had been used to break the Winter Soldier, to turn him into a ruthless assassin devoid of free will.
Dr. Ivanov stood over Bucky, a sadistic grin on his face. "Ah, the Winter Soldier returns. We've missed you, my dear friend."
Bucky's jaw clenched, and he spat blood onto the pristine white floor. "I'm not your friend."
