Five Months

*Melanie was officially five months pregnant. Alex was absolutely loving the pregnancy. The mood swings, the food and even the body pillow. He loved every last minute of it. The girls had moved out of their dorms and went back home. Melanie was ecstatic that she was finally able to move her stuff in with Alex.

The girls were happy that they all had job offers near home and could still be together. Melanie got her first writing job, her boss and colleagues were amazingly chill. Her boss wanted to sit and meet with her to talk about writing. He told her to whip something up and to send it to him that way they could talk it over.

Alex had been seeing her brain freeze at moments and he told her not to stress. He always encouraged her to chase after her dreams and always did love reading her papers. Melanie hugged Alex in her sleep and kissed his back. She fell back into a deep sleep when she got woken up by feeling pain. She tried to breathe through the pain as she sat up. Melanie flipped her hair as the pain got worse. She bit her lip as she felt tears coming to surface and she rubbed her bump, hoping nothing was wrong with the baby*

Melanie: Alex...*She started pacing*...Alex...*She groaned as he was in a deep sleep. She slowly walked to her phone and called Jane*

Jane: It's four in the morning sister?

Melanie: Ahhh.

Jane: Mel?

Melanie: Alex

Jane: Melanie, are you okay?...*Melanie dropped her phone and Jane heard her sister gasp*...Melanie!...*Joe rolled over and saw that Jane was on the verge of tears*

Joe: Babe, everything okay?

Jane: Something is wrong with the baby.

Melanie: ALEX!...*He jumped out of his sleep and saw Melanie was hunched over*

Alex: Babe!?

Melanie: The...The baby.

Jane: Hello? Alex?

Alex: Okay baby...*He walked to her as he got dressed*...Where does it hurt love?

Melanie: All over my stomach. Alex.

Alex: Okay. Just try to breathe...*She grabbed his arm and groaned in pain*...Baby, I have to take you to the hospital.

Melanie: It's too early.

Alex: Something could be wrong with the baby.

Jane: They're going to the hospital. Call my mom...*Joe nodded and they all got dressed*

Alex: Almost there.

Melanie: Alex.

Alex: I know baby. I know. Everything is going to be okay. Just hold on...*He pulled into the emergency entrance and gave his keys to the valet person. Alex held her inside and she groaned loudly*...Did your water break?

Melanie: No.

Alex: Melanie Anderson. Five months and she woke up in pain.

Nurse: Okay. While I check you in. They will get you a wheelchair.

Melanie: No, it'll hurt worse.

Alex: Babe, you can't walk...*Melanie nodded and cried out in pain as she sat in the wheelchair. Alex held her hand as he hated to see her in pain*

Nurse: I know it's bad and stupid to say but just try and breathe mom...*Alex never let her hand go as they got up to Labor and Delivery*

Nancy: Hey, I saw your name pop up. Let's go take a look and see what's going on. How's your pain?
