*Kristen was feeling anxious as Sofia was literally days away from her due date. While Melanie still had a little more ways to go. The doctor put her on bed rest and Alex only let her drive to anything that was close to home. Melanie relaxed at home while everyone got everything ready for the shower. She texted back and forth with Alex.
Since Melanie was home, she figured that she would drop off one last present that came late for Sofia. After Melanie was off to the little cafe she loved to meet with her new boss. She was nervous to meet her boss but felt excited at the same time. Alex told her to wait but Melanie said she felt fine, so Alex agreed. Melanie smiled as Alex was calling her*
Melanie: Yes?
Alex: You okay? Make to Kris okay?
Melanie: I am fine. I'm almost there.
Alex: Text me when you get there so I know that you are safe...*Melanie smiled*
Melanie: I love you.
Alex: I love you too. I can't wait to see you and that belly. Makes me horny...*Melanie laughed*
Jane: Ya know, her sister and her mother are right freaking here! You pervs!...*Alex chuckled*
Melanie: I can't wait to see you. Okay, I'm here. Call you later.
Alex: Alright. I love you so much Melanie.
Melanie: Mm, I love you more handsome...*Becky smiled as she opened the door to Melanie and her belly. Kristen came around the corner with attitude on her face and her hands on her hips*
Kristen: Seriously? You are about ready to pop and you're driving?...*Melanie smiled as she rubbed her belly*
Melanie: You sound just like your brother. I feel fine. Promise. This is for Sofia and the baby.
Sofia: In here...*Melanie walked over and sat on the couch*...You didn't have to get me anything else.
Melanie: It came late.
Rebecca: Kris?
Kristen: Yeah?
Rebecca: Be back later. I'm going out with Chrissy.
Melanie: I can take her. I am headed into town.
Kristen: Be careful...*Sofia smiled as she opened the present*
Sofia: The bottle warmer. I was looking at them last night. It was on my top ten.
Melanie: It's a must.
Kristen: Okay, off you go. The faster you get to Alex the better I'll feel. You're making me feel like you'll go into labor.
Melanie: I'm okay. Baby girl is comfy where she is.
Kristen: All of our stuff is with Jane...*Melanie and Becky left. Melanie called Alex after she dropped off Becky*
Melanie: Hi baby.
Alex: Where are you now?
Melanie: Almost to the cafe.
Alex: Be careful. By the time you get here everything will be ready...*She smiled*...Your dad just left to get some of the food from catering. Joe went to meet up with him.
Melanie: I miss you.
Alex: I miss you too baby...*Alex then heard tires screeching, loud noises and her screaming*...MELANIE!...*Jane and Layne looked over at him*...MELANIE!...*The line went dead*
Layne: Alex?
Alex: She-she's been in an accident.
Jane: Wha?...*Alex ran out of the door to his car*...Go! Mom, take my keys. I'll call dad and we'll meet you there.
Layne: But?...*Layne looked speechless as she couldn't wrap her head around what was happening*
Jane: GO!
Man: Ma'am, can you hear me?
Melanie: M...M...*She coughed up blood*
Man: We have to lift here. One...Two...Three...*Melanie yelled in pain as they put her on the stretcher*...Ma'am?
Melanie: M....*She felt her tears run down her face*...My baby...*Melanie held her belly and slowly blinked to open her eyes. It stung so bad to keep them open which she figured there was blood in them. So it felt better to keep them closed and it helped with the stinging. Melanie could smell smoke, gas and knew a fire would start soon. She felt her body panicking, going into shock on the inside and she felt her ring. Which made her cry as she thought of the one person she wanted right now*...ALEX!
*Please do not hate me after this chapter. When I wrote this, I had this chapter going a little different without the dramatic ending. So I cut it and when I saw that it was only four pages long...My heart completely broke! I am sorry that it happened to be this short. I had to save the best for the possible next book. I truly hope that you all liked this and read to the end. Thank you to all of those who have read it.
