*Sigh* Why was it so warm today? I had so much work to finish... A hand placed a sundae on my table, interrupting my thoughts.

"Can't you see this seat's tak...en..." I trailed off as I followed the hand to the face.

"Sorry, I thought it was a little too hot for coffee today. I'm sure you'd enjoy this. It's something new I've been working on, not too sweet either. I can take it back if you don't want it." He spoke softly with a hint of nervousness. I glanced down at the sundae and thought to myself, "He made this? "

It had been two weeks, but I still couldn't quite understand him. He seemed older than me but perpetually dishevelled. At the beginning, I thought he was a barista, but it seems I was wrong to make that assumption. But why is he always so nervous? Usually, we don't interact much. In the beginning, I would walk in and start working while he would take my order, but after a while, he would just bring it over without saying much. Maybe I was difficult to talk to; I could understand that.

He is like a puppy, and I chuckled under my breath. I could see it on his face, the excitement, the anticipation, like a puppy wanting more. A sigh escaped my lips, and I replied, "Thank you, I think this will be alright. Can you get me something to eat that goes well with it?" His excitement and happiness were palpable as he replied, "Sure! I'll be back with something right away." I could almost imagine a wagging tail.

As I took a bite into the sundae it was a burst of sweet and sour. The cherries were on the sour side, with a bitter after taste of coffee and a sweet taste that brought it all together were these small chocolate pieces that you could bite into here and there. It was a surprise, I never noticed it before but even the bitter Espresso had a wonderful aroma to it which makes it pleasant to drink. He might look dishevelled but I guess he makes a wonderful cup of coffee, I smiled.
