Taylor's POV

The nurse verified that my nose was nearly broken, almost but not quite, so I'll take what I can get. Erin looked on like a disappointed mother as the nurse did what she could to help me out.

"I can't believe I'm in here with you doing this. I feel like I'm gonna have to babysit you from now on. You're lucky I was able to come up with the team manager lie so quickly." Erin says. I look at her confused.

"Wait, you're not actually the team manager? That was a lie?" She laughs and shakes her head. I stand up after the nurse is done with me. Erin places her hands on my shoulders.

"You are such an airhead sometimes. You're lucky you don't have to be smart to play football."

"Rude but thanks for being here for me. I appreciate it, especially after I did the complete opposite of everything you said." We leave the nurse's office and head to class.  We round the corner to get to class and run into a human wall. I look up confused and realization dawns on me.

Jason.

He looks down with his brows furrowed and arms crossed.

"You have a lot of explaining to do before my parents get here. Because if you think the principal didn't call them you are mistaken. They will not waste any time getting here trust me." Jason warns me. I look over at Erin and nod, telling her that it is okay for her to go. Erin nods back and heads to class.

"Jason look, all of it is very simple. Those idiots that I went after today are straight-up bullies. I did not do what I did without reason."

"Regardless of reason or not, if you want to be able to play football you cannot do that agai-"

"TAYLOR ROSE NASH." I know that voice. It wasn't the principal. It wasn't Erin. It wasn't my aunt or uncle.

It was my mom.

My eyes go wide like a deer in headlights. A part of me is scared for my life and another part of me is happy to hear her voice again, angry or not.

"Mom I can explain." I hurry towards her in an attempt to calm down her rage. She doesn't say a word and just watches me walk towards her, hands on her hips. As soon as I reach her the facade comes down. She immediately brings me in for a hug and squeezes so tight I'm surprised I could breathe.

"You are extremely lucky I missed you a ton. But we are definitely going to be having a long talk." All I can do is nod my head and brace myself for that long conversation.

"C'mon, you're going home for the day. We have a lot to talk about." I nod my head yet again and follow my mom out the school doors. Today is going to be a lot longer than I could have imagined.

My mom and I arrive at my aunt and uncle's house. As anticipated, my aunt and uncle were not in the best of moods. We all sat down and they were all expecting an explanation. I start from the beginning like I did with the principal earlier. They all sit there and listen intently as I explain my behavior.  My uncle is the first to speak up.

"I am proud of you for sticking up for that girl. Your reaction was not entirely justified and if needed, we will help you figure out what you should do the next time you're in a situation like this again." I nod my head in his direction understanding. My aunt is the next to speak.

"Sweetie I will be completely honest with you, I was not expecting that type of reaction out of you. It is nice to know that you are willing to stick up for those who can't and that if need be, you have your cousin's backs." I smile at her.
