That night I slept over Toya's house . I was on Toya's grandmother's couch . I smelled the air , it smelled of Pancakes and bacon . My stomach started grumbling . I sat up and then pain shot through my stomach . I winced in pain . I got up and walked upstairs to Toya's room . I opened it up without knocking(which was a big mistake) . Toya and this random man who looked about 25 were but naked and he was doggy styling Toya . Dick in the but, ew . I screamed , covered my innocent eyes , and slammed the door . "iight , lets pretend that I never saw that ." I told myself. I went back down and sat on the couch . I looked at my watch , it was 6:56 am good I still had time to get to school . About 20 minutes later , Toya and the boy who Toya was fucking came out of the room . Toya told him that he had to leave cause she didnt want her grandmother seeing him . He left out the back door ,not before slapping Toya on the ass and handing her a couple 100$ bills . I shook my head in disgust . She shrugged "A girl gotta make her money some way" she snickered . "I'm going to pray for you Toya" I say . She stared at me and then cringed , as if something was on my face or somtin . "What is it?" I ask cluelessly . "What in the hell happened to your face?" She asked pointing to my face . I ran passed her and I ran in her bathroom . My mouth dropped at my reflection . My right eye was purple and swollen shut , my lip was busted and bleeding , my hair was kinda all over the place , and I had scratches all over my face . I gasped . I looked like I just fell outta the sky or some shit like that . I groaned , my life just keeps getting worse and worse. I decide that Im about to take an shower. I take my clothes off and stare at my reflection . I had purple bruises all over my body . It was terrible . My eyes became blury with tears . I stepped in the shower and I scrubbed myself clean , watching all the blood from my scars go down the drain , making my feet pink . I wrapped a towel around myself and stepped out the bathroom . I decided I could wear some of Toya's stuff today she wouldn't mind . I looked through her drawers for something casual . Toya's style is all flashy , leopard print and stuff . And I don't like all of that . I picked out a white camisole ,some black leather shorts , with leggings underneath , and some combat boots . I think I looked pretty decent . It was my face that was making me look like a beat up homeless thug! . Toya came up to her room . She touched my bruised cheek softly ."who did this to you?" She asked . "Erm...,.. It's no biggie , i'll take care of it" I say . "Don't lie to me Indi , we've been friends since forever! , like dag , you know you can tell me anything" she said . I tell her what happened , and she's furious . "O hell no! , dem bitches not gone get away wit dis shit!" She yelled . I was trying to calm her down , but It wasn't working . "When I see them bitches today , they gone regret it" she said rubbing her hands together and staring in the distance. Y'all don't understand , Toya is a straight up thug . She is Loco . She's been to juvie a couple of times for several crimes , and I don't want her to go back to juvie for trying to solve my problems . "Stop Toya , look, just let me solve my own problems .kay?" I say . She rolled her eyes ."watever , but you should let me handle it , i'll make them hoes pay" she mumbled . I shook my head "Girl , if you don't stop acting like that you gone be back in juvie again sooner or later" I say . "I don't care , I'm not scared of dat place" she popped her gum . I put on one of Toya's black hoodies to cover up my black eye .We both walked down stairs to the kitchen .Toya's Grandmother(Ms.Wright) had made breakfast , and my little brothers were sitting on the table eating the food like they never ate before . "Good morning Indigo , how has you and your mother been ? And does she know you spent the night last night?" She said . I scratched my head nervously(I do that every time I'm about to tell a lie) "Erm........ We're all right , and yea I called her and told her i'd be spending the night" I lie . "O , okay , you want some breakfast?" She asked . "No I'm fine, I'm not hungry " I lied , my stomach was grumbling and I was starving . "Child don't lie to me, sit down and eat . I know your hungry because your little brothers are eating like beast , so you must be hungry too" she pulled out a seat for me . I sighed and sat down , making sure my hoodie was still covering my face. I glared at my little brothers who were smaking on their bacon . I looked down in shame , it's my fault that they haven't been eating . I'm trying to take care of them , but I can't it's too hard . What's going to happen when I go to college huh? , who will take care of them then?. I started chewing my finger nails . "You okay?" Toya mouths . "Yea" I mouth back . She shrugs and stuffs a fork full of egg in her mouth . Ms.Wright sets a plate full of food in front of me . Bacon,Pancakes,Eggs,toast,jam and orange juice . I eat the whole plate of food in a matter of seconds . Toya , Ms.Wright , and even Toya's son jj , is staring at me like I'm crazy . "I was just erm , really hungry" I scratch my neck . "We can see that" Ms.Wright chuckles . I smile nervously . Toya picks her son up an tickles his tummy . He giggles . Toya can be a good mother , sometimes . Other times she'll leave him home alone or bring him to parties with her , that have drugs and alcohol . After my little brothers had seconds , We left and I took them to school .
