The day of the incident.
" That night when I went home, Shiro had texted me that she wanted to drag race against me in my Evo on August 5. I accepted. although i hadn't drove my Evo around in a while so I was bound to be rusty. Sadly, I was not able to race her at that day, because I got hospitalized at that afternoon. After I finished school late I was the last one to leave, I found the red GTR waiting for me at the exact spot Shiro would wait for me outside school. Before I realized it though, I was suddenly struck at the back of my head by a baseball bat. That knocked me down, and I was dragged into a nearby alley by a couple of men wearing chains and weird hairstyles, then they proceeded to beat me up further and stole my phone. They ended up having broken several of my ribs, shattered my arms and femur and broke my face to the point where it'd be impossible to fully recover by normal means, so thank god for healing magic. The doctors said I could have died had my friend, Asahi had not come back to check on me and found my dying body at the alleyway.
My parents were notified by the police of my hospitalization and went to check on me. The official report of the incident stated that it was just an attempted murder with no ulterior motive beyond sparking conflict, but Asahi told me otherwise. Apparently rumors were spreading among the racing community that me and Shiro were dating, and even Asahi believed it, which is why he went to check on me. I figured the rumors spread to the man and he took matters into his own hands. The fortunate news however, was that my parents were unharmed so that beating must have been some sort of warning. The less fortunate news was that my parents had arranged for me to be healed within the night by healing magic, but didn't have enough money to pay for it on their own so they had to resort to using my hidden stash of cash I meant to save for tuning my Evo for future races with Shiro's help. Thankfully I got discharged the next evening, although I still had a bad leg and a few band aids wrapping some cuts on my face.
After I rested well enough to walk and drive and despite my parents insisting to stay home to rest further, I drove in my GTR to Shiro's garage to apologize for missing the race. I thought she would have been mad at me for making her wait without texting, but when I drove to the back of the nightclub and into the garage directly, I saw Shiro running down from the upstairs cafe and directly to my car. She forcefully opened my door, lifted me out and pushed me against the car. She looked at me head to toe, then just hugged me tightly.
"You got me worried sick, asshole. You wouldn't answer your phone, you weren't at school, what happened...?" Shiro said after letting me go. She noticed my limping right leg and healing bruises on my face, then she glared. Not at me but, like she knew what exactly happened. She gritted her teeth and got on her RX-7 and drove away without a word.
While I was waiting for her at the cafe, a duo of americans that looked to be around thirteen or fourteen suddenly teleported in with a flash of pink at the garage. The boy noticed me and called me.
"You, where's Lytra?" He asked in an assertive tone.
"...I don't know." I answered anxiously, similarly to how I was when I was first around Shiro.
"No need to be rude Cyrus. Just message her that we're having our race now and where." The girl beside her said. The two looked identical aside from their height difference. They're definitely twins.
"Whatever. Hope she actually finished installing the Nitro and turbo at least." The boy Cyrus murmured as he got into the grey DB9 and started it.
"You still think you can take my P1? You must be pretty bold or stupid." The girl said while she walked to the black P1.
"Hey stranger, remind Lytra about our race, could you?" The girl told me. Before I could respond, the two drove away...After ten minutes of waiting and occasionally touching my wounds, I ordered a coffee for takeout. I asked the... wait it was a robot? I didn't notice back then. Anyway, the robot I asked was the one who prepares the coffee and snacks from the kitchen. It acted human like, aside from it's metal plating but I took it as some form of cosplay or somehow related to it's powers.
"How much for this one?" I asked the robot for an americano.
"Nothing, it's for free." The robot said before preparing the coffee. I had the urge to yell "FREE?!" happily but my injuries stopped me from doing so.
Before I left with my coffee, the robot called me.
"Mr. Maxwell was it? My boss has requested me to tell you to meet her at the highway for a drag race, and to tell you that she had stolen your Evo from it's parking lot and cleaned it yesterday. It's at the special service section of the garage." The robot told me. I nodded. I simply dismissed the fact that she simply stole my Evo without telling me, she must have been serious about selling it off to her friend...
