I finally reached my porch. I trudged up the cracked stairs and to my front door. I turned the knob and walked in shutting the door behind me.

"Kennedy? Is that you?" I heard my mom yell from the kitchen.

"Yes mom, it's me!" I yelled back.

She came walking out with a dish towel in her hands.

"Look honey...I'm really sorry about what I said this morning. You know I didn't mean it. I was just stressed out because of all the moving." She said with a frown.

"It's ok mom. I didn't mean what I said too. I'm sorry." I said wrapping my arms around her. She hugged me back.

"Ok. Now go pack the rest of your stuff, we're leaving tonight." She said pulling away and smiled at me.

"Alright." I said smiling back while walking over to the basement door. I grabbed 4 extra cardboard boxes before heading down.

I opened the door and walked down the steps. I walked over to my closet an packed the remaining clothes I had. I did the same with my bras and underwear in the next box.

I felt a buzz in my pocket. I reached in my back pocket and pulled out my phone. That's strange I never get texts from anybody except my mom.

I looked at the screen.

NEW TEXT FROM: UNKNOWN

I unlocked my phone.

'Hey Kennedy! I heard what you did to Leena, I'm happy you finally stood up for yourself! I wish I could've gotten to know you better...goodbye Ken, I'll miss you :)

Love, Landon <3'

Oh. My. God. Landon texted me and tells me this now! I'm leaving for the airport in 2 hours! This can't be happening...I texted him back.

'Thanks Landon :) I wish I could've talked to you more. I'll miss you too, I hope to see you again! I promise we will keep in touch when I move :)

Love, Ken <3'

Ugh. I'm gonna miss him like crazy but I'm moving and maybe I'll meet a guy in California.

As I finished packing, I heard my mom yell down the stairs.

"Ken? Are you almost done?"

"Yes mom, I'm almost done." I said.

"Okay hurry up we leave in 10 minutes." She said back. I heard the door shut.

I grabbed the boxes and stacked them on top of each other. I picked them up nearly falling over. I walked over to the steps. I turned back looking at the bare basement. I smiled. Memories started flowing back. Then I started to frown. Before I knew it, I felt a tear slide down my cheek. I quickly whipped it away with my shoulder. I turned the light off and walked up the stairs. I opened the door and walked out. I turned back to look at the room. I could faintly see the glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling.

"Goodbye stars." I whispered.

I picked up the boxes again and headed out the front door. I handed them to the moving guy and went over to my moms mini van. I got in the passengers seat and clicked my seatbelt. I looked over to my mom, who was already in the car.

"You ready?" She asked with a small smile.

I looked back over to our little house once more and the tall tree sitting off to the side in the large meadow. I looked back to her.

"Ready." I said smiling back.

With that she started the car and slowly backed out of the driveway. She turned and drove down the road. I turned around and saw my whole childhood and life disappear in the distance.

Goodbye home. Goodbye tree. Goodbye stars. Goodbye life.

Hello new life.
