Our story begins in a aftermath of a terrible sight. Sitting in front of a bleeding, lifeless body is a young man around age 11 . He has blonde hair that shines like gold, dark blue boots that reach up to his knees a black turtleneck shirt that is covered by a blue cloak with gold trims. However the feature that is alarming is his blue hairs that become dull.
The boy stands there, not moving at all as the world continues around him. The wind blows past him, moving his hair and the tears flowing from his face. Eventually police men arrive on the scene. The trained professionals are disgusted by the sight. The wailing child wakes them from their sickened views and they act. Two officers drag the boy away, despite his protest that nobody listens to. The body is covered by a white sheet and the area is cut off by police tape. Civilians gather around with whispers about the corpse and it appears as if nobody can hear the sobbing child in one of the ambulances being comforter by his mother and father. His father, F/n puts a palm on his shoulder which makes the boy face him with puffy red eyes.
F/n:Y/n, you had nothing to with this. Meiyo's death isn't your fault. Ok?
Y/n is silent for a moment before he nods. The truth of his friend's death hurts him, this event will surely haunt him forever but he must move on.2 weeks later
We come back to a wake that is taking place after the funeral of Meiyo Yūjin. Y/n's mother and father are speaking to other adults while the young man is sitting by himself in a corner scrolling through his phone. Pictures of him and Meiyo are shown where the smile that is now gone lies.
???:Y/n.
He looks up to see the face of a grieving mother, one that is most painful to look at.
Y/n:Hello Mrs Yūjin. May I help you with something?
Mrs Yūjin digs into her purse and pulls out a bunch of cards wrapped together by a red ribbon and a note.
Mrs Yūjin:Meiyo was planning on giving this to you when you turned 11 next month but I think it is better you have it now.
She hands him the cards and he opens up the ribbon and the envelope. From the envelope falls a single card. It is blue with cyan patterns. In the centre is a ritual like pattern that has a pair of staffs in the middle joined by strange marks.Y/n:This is a buddy fight flag.
Buddy fight. The world wide game that nearly every body plays
A game where fighters joined by their buddies fight to be the best they can be. It was Meiyo's favorite game and Y/n would watch him play. Y/n now reads the letter.
Meiyo:Happy Birthday Y/n! I got you some cards so that we could start playing together. I got you the magic world flag. It was the world that you said you were most interested in.
Tears fall as Y/n remembered that day, when they promised to have a buddy fight that day.
Mrs Yūjin:Here.
She hands him a single card. The card was blank, silver in coloration.
Y/n:An blank card?
Mrs Yūjin:It was Meiyo's good luck charm. He carried it around with him everywhere. I figured you should have it.
Y/n thanks her, still overwhelmed with the sadness of his lost friend. Hours later he is in his room with the buddyfight cards laid on his table.
Y/n:I never played this before but I promise Meiyo I will use your cards to honor you.
