Hi everyone, I hope you enjoy the first 3 chapters of "A True Love Story". This is loosely based on my life with character names and many others edited and modified I hope you all enjoy.
Hi Friends!
Listen to the song "I Saw The Sign" by Ace of Base while reading this chapter. It will bring you back to the time it all began.DAMON
"Pare, hello?" Ben was flailing his arms in front of me, trying to get my attention. I did not notice it at first, because I was distracted.
"Sorry, Pare. What were you saying?" I turned towards my best friend.
"I was asking how Candy took the news about you having to attend this interaction." Ben replied.
I chuckled. "How do you think? She got upset obviously. But I said it was school-sanctioned, so I could not do anything." I turned my attention back to what I was watching before Ben interrupted me.
"Who or what are you looking at? You're awfully distracted." Ben asked as he followed my eyes.
"Look at her." I said to Ben. I was referring to a tall girl wearing jeans a tank top and high cut DMs. She was the first sight that welcomed me as soon as I got to the venue. I got drawned to her, because she was singing and laughing with her friends. She looked so happy and so free. It didn't help that she was also very cute. And those dimples on her cheeks—- I cannot even begin to describe what they were doing to me. Hearing snippets of her song, I can't help the goosebumps I was getting. She had a beautiful voice.
Ben playfully took a jab at me. "Stop staring. She might melt. Definitely cute. Not your type though."
"I have a type?" I asked Ben
"Yes you do. You like petite and fair-skinned girls. You also like them quiet and reserved. She is the complete opposite." Ben replied.
As if on cue, my pager beeped. It was Candy. I pried my eyes off the tall girl and read the message. "Behave, okay? Call me later." I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I had a girlfriend. For the next hour, I tried my best to not even sneak a glance at the girl. "Yes. Behave, Damon. Behave."
Have you ever tried ignoring someone who was making your heart thump? Have you tried forcing yourself to pry your eyes from someone who caught your attention the moment you entered a room? Well, I have, and right now, I am. It's so damn hard. No matter how much effort I put into looking around and at other people, my eyes always circled back to her. She has even completely taken over my peripheral vision. She was that larger than life.
What is happening to me? I am so distracted by her, it's scary. I closed my eyes, trying to shake it off. Think about Candy. Think about Candy. I reminded myself over and over. After a few more attempts at restraint, I felt a bit more at ease. I was confident I can stop the ogling. As it turns out, I couldn't.
The girl and I were suddenly thrust together for some sort of ice breaker activity. Lord help me, I mumbled to myself more than to God.
"Hi! I am Patricia Alcantara. You can call me Tricia. You are?" The tall girl smiled warmly at me, waiting for my reply. Oh gosh. Those dimples. If I thought she was cute from a distance, I wasn't prepared for how beautiful she was up close. My heart went from 0 to 200 pretty quickly.
"I am Damon Valderrama. And you can call me well...uh Damon." I managed to say. I wanted to punch myself. How lame can I be? I berated myself. Tricia laughed. And my god, it was the most beautiful sound I have ever heard.
