As I awoke, I saw the sunlight stream through the blinds in the windows, creating dotted line across the sheets.
I felt a pleasant warmth in the atmosphere of the room and thought it to be nice, yet strange as it was only April and shouldn't it be a lot chillier and rainy?
I stretched my hand out before me, letting it soak in the sunlight if a Saturday morning as I pondered this. Then I felt a slight shift in the bed beside me. It was then I remembered; I wasn't alone. Indeed there was a sleeping body beside me. And well, it did explain the extra warmth I felt. It was being omitted by this lovely, bare skinned creature lying peacefully beside me.
And no sooner than i realized I wasn't alone, I remembered who this person was. The steady rise and fall of their body as they breathed, the way the sunlight glistened through their short curled locks, even the way their pale skin darkened into a pinkish purple in some places stretched across their collar bones; and obvious sign of the previous night. All of it became oh so familiar. And suddenly I was reaching over to wrap my arm around them and nuzzle my face into their neck and just breath them closer and closer because I knew this. This was my familiar.
I leaned down to place a kiss on the soft spot just over his collar bone. The action caused him to shift and roll over to face me. Eyes closed, he borrowed himself further into the duvet to rest his head against my chest...
'Safe.' comes to mind. Because in his arms I do feel safe, but to me, he felt safe in mine......until, he isn't anymore.

A/n: yes I changed the title of this one bc I found the original and that's what it was called. It was originally written sometime in early April I suppose. Then the last little sentence was around May-ish cause yeah, shit happens.
