Ⅰ. just a normal but not so normal day!
IT WAS JUST LIKE any other day for Leah, waking up to hearing her mom cough so terrifyingly it made her want to throw up whatever she felt like was stuck in her throat. She woke up with a worried face running towards her mother's room, she looked around searching for her brother. He must be at the restaurant."Mom?! Are you okay?" she caressed her mother's hair tenderly looking at her mom who had so much pain written all over her face. She thought of what her mother used to be before he died- or left? Leah always felt like there was something with his death that just didn't seem to add up. They had to bury an empty coffin because her Father's body was so crushed up by the accident that there was just... nothing.
She knew for sure that her Mother knew more than she let us believe on. Leah voiced her suspicions to her brother so many times before but he always brushed her off saying I-- We already have too much on our hands right now I really don't have time for this right now, Le. But deep down she knew that her brother had the same suspicions but decided to keep it buried because then it would make everything even more complicated than they already are. And their father wouldn't just abandoned them like that, right? They were really close to him especially Leah, a Father is the first love for his daughter and the first superhero for his son. And their father was exactly that. They convinced themselves to believe that he's dead to not ruin themselves even more. They already had so much responsibilities and problems on their hands anyway.
Shimron was a beautiful person inside and out before her husband's death. She and her husband or as they made their children to believe. They lived a happy life even though their father was mostly out for work. The siblings didn't really know what he does, and whenever the question came up their parents just gave each other a weird glance and always diverted the topic. Their mother owned a pizza shop which was originally her grandfather's which now was passed onto her. Their father helped out in the restaurant whenever he could with their mother.
Despite the frequent absence of their father they could never be mad at him as he always made sure to make it up to his kids when he came back. Her mother was from Korean heritage whereas their father was from Virginia. There were only four of them since the start, they had no other family besides each other. They were either dead or just didn't seem to care enough about them to keep in contact.
A few days before their father's death some tension was evident between their parents, Leah just brushed it off as a normal couple fight. It was around that time their mother started her addiction. Which grew even worse after their father's death. And now after three years she was finally on her deathbed. The woman who had a brightening glow surrounding her now had the whole darkness consuming her which seemed to be happening really swiftly now. Leah knew it, her brother knew. And most importantly she knew what was coming. It was happening. But a part of Shimron wanted herself to be free of the dark side the world had shown and the pain that came with it as a cost. But she wasn't ready to leave her children behind. Not when they were just recovering from their father's death. God, did she want to live a bit longer, love them more, and to not cause them anymore pain than they already are in. She prayed and prayed but it was of no use, it was only a matter of time.
