For the last two days, or in other words, since Luke and I kissed, he has been hanging out with us most of the time, and I think he's fit in well with the group. Everyone seems to like him. Well, everyone except Andrew, who keeps side-eyeing him and giving him weird looks every chance he gets.
I have no idea what Andrew has against him. Luke is a great guy—easygoing, friendly, and honestly pretty charming. Even Ryan and Tyler admitted he's cool, which is saying something since those two don't warm up to new people easily.
Meanwhile, Andrew seems intent on pushing everyone's buttons. For example, he's brought Khloe around multiple times, even though it's obvious that almost no one in the group can stand her. Still, I've been doing my best to ignore her and enjoy my time with Luke.
Today, we had planned to meet up at the café "Lolita" after school, but I couldn't make it because I had practice—the final one before the national qualifiers. Technically, it wasn't a full practice; it was more of a meeting where the coach gave us a motivational speech and went over some last-minute strategies. Still, it was important, so I told the group I'd meet them back at the dorm afterward.
After my last class, Natalie and I grabbed a quick bite in the cafeteria before heading to the gym. We were half an hour early, so we decided to shoot some hoops before the others arrived.
The boys' team had just finished their practice when we stepped onto the court. I started telling Natalie about how I nearly broke my leg during our last game, but when I glanced at her, she wasn't paying attention. Her eyes were locked on one of the guys—Andrew's teammate. I don't know his name, but apparently, Natalie does.
I smirked. "You should go and talk to him."
She snapped out of her staring trance and turned to me, her face flushed. "W-what are you talking about? Haha..."
"Natalie," I said knowingly, crossing my arms. "I saw how you were staring at that guy over there." I nodded toward him. "Go talk to him."
She hesitated. "Okay, you got me," she admitted with a nervous laugh. "But what if he doesn't like me? What if he thinks I'm some boring bi—"
I cut her off with a stern look. "No, stop that. Just go talk to him, or I'll bring him over here myself. Your choice."
She took a deep breath, squaring her shoulders. "Okay. I'm going to talk to him."
"That's my girl!" I cheered, giving her a playful shove toward him. "Now go talk to him before Coach gets here."
Natalie hesitated for a moment longer, but eventually, she walked over to him and struck up a conversation. To my surprise, the guy responded warmly, and soon they were laughing and chatting like old friends. I felt a surge of pride for Natalie—she deserved this.
Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Andrew walking toward me, a smirk plastered across his face.
I rolled my eyes and continued shooting.
"Well, hello there, Little," he said with that irritating tone he always used.I turned to him, glaring. "First of all, don't call me 'Little.' I have a name. Second, what do you want? Another lesson on how to play basketball?"
Andrew leaned against the edge of the hoop, his smirk widening. "I know you have a name, but 'Little' suits you more," he teased. "And you wish I was here for another one-on-one."I scoffed. "So why are you here?"
"Why not? Can't I annoy my favorite enemy?" he replied, placing a hand on my shoulder."Aww, I'm your favorite enemy?" I said sarcastically, placing a hand on my chest as if touched. "And no, I didn't mean it like that. Don't you have to go screw Khloe or some other girl or something?"
