"Tate" I whispered to him.
"hmm." Tate mumbled because he was half asleep
"We need to get going." I told him. He didn't respond so I nudged him in the side.
"What!" he screamed. I flinched a little. He opened his eyes and looked at me.
"sorry." He said with lop sided smile. I shook my head at him and stood up off the ground. I offered my hand to him and he grabbed it. I hoisted him up off the ground.
"We need to get back." I told him. He nodded at my words. I grabbed my bag off the ground and we started walking back to the house. I saw Tate look up at the sky.
"We need to hurry. The suns coming up." Tate said.
"What will happen to you if you don't get back by sunrise?" I asked Tate.
"Nothing really. I will just be sent back to the basement." Tate explained.
"oh." I said. Tate looked down at me and smiled. I smiled back but it wasn't a real smile I had a feeling something bad is going to happen.
"What are you thinking about?" Tate asked.
"nothing." I told him.
"Come on tell me. You can trust me." Tate said to me.
"I'm scared what my parent will think. I mean I was gone all Halloween." I told him. Even though that wasn't what I was thinking.
"They won't do anything. I won't let them." He said kissing my forehead. I smiled.
"Were almost to your house." Tate said.
"It's not my house. It yours and the others ghosts." I told him. He nodded his head at what I said and kept walking. I saw the house coming into view. I started to get a nervous feeling about going back.
"You look nervous." Tate said.
"I'm a little. This house kind of scares me." I told him. He frowned at what I said.
"Why does it scare you?" He asked. I didn't know how to respond. I couldn't put it in words. It was just a bad feeling that I felt.
"I um don't know how to explain it." I told him being truthful.
"It's just a bad feeling that I feel in that house." I told him. He nodded. We finally made it to the gates when I saw all the ghosts coming back to the house. They all stopped at the gate and had a frown on their face. It was sad to think they never could leave this place. I opened the gate and all the ghosts walked in. I stood there for a second. I wasn't ready to go back. I couldn't. Tate stopped and looked at me.
"You coming?" he asked.
"I don't know." I told him. He smiled and offered his hand. I stepped onto the yard and the feeling came rushing me. Tate gave me a concerned look. I brushed him off and walked into the house.
"Where have you been!" my dad screamed at me.
"None of your business." I replied back.
"Tell me now or you're grounded." He said.
"Ground me old man. I don't give a shit." I told him. That seemed to anger him really badly because he came up to me and grabbed me by the throat. He pushed me up against a wall putting more pressure on my neck.
"Tell me now" he said in a low voice. I tried to get him off but it didn't work. I started to choke which turned into coughing.
"I..went..to..the..beach" I told him in between breaths.
