"And here we are..."
Ha-rin pushed the door, and moved aside to let the three teenagers in. They arrived directly in a rather dark entrance, quite old.
"This must bring back some memories, Jungkook!" exclaimed the grandmother happily as she closed the door behind her. "It hasn't changed much since you left..."
In truth, Jungkook was no different from his two friends: he had only very vague memories of this place, nothing very detailed. He was rediscovering the furniture, the small decorative objects that hung there, the pictures on the walls, the slightly outdated wallpaper, the creaking parquet floor, and that little smell of cinnamon that hung in the air... A sweet nostalgia invaded him, even though he couldn't link any memory to it.
"Hm, vaguely..." He replied.
Ha-rin looked disappointed.
Nothing more normal. Thought Jungkook. All those moments they had shared together had gone up in smoke. It must have been hard to accept for her.
"Well, I'll show you your room, so you can settle in!"
"Thank you very much, madam." Hoseok hastened.
"Oh no, you can call me Ha-rin!"
Hoseok nodded shyly, even when he knew he couldn't do it this easily. She pointed to the stairs opposite and, grabbing their bags, they followed her without a word. They came to a long, rather narrow corridor. They had to walk in a line. They walked to the end of the corridor, and she opened the door.
"Well, we had to make some changes. You see, this was originally a child's room, so we tried to arrange it so that all three of you could sleep in it without too much trouble..."
A small room appeared before them, very bright. A single bed was in the middle, not very big, with a large double mattress to the left of it.
"I thought Yeji could sleep alone on the bed, and you two on the floor. I know it's not very comfortable for you guys, but it's all we have..."
"It's fine, Grandma," Jungkook reassured her, "don't worry. I can assure you that we've seen worse."
"Ahah, that's true, like at the party at Mingyu's!" Yeji chuckled.
Ha-rin's shoulders relaxed a little.
"That's good then. You're probably hungry, there's pizza in the freezer if you want."
"What about you?" Jungkook questioned her, putting his bag in the corner.
"I'm going back to the hospital, his tests should be over soon."
"Oh, right..."
The old lady was about to leave but turned back immediately.
"Oh, by the way, I was thinking we could go to the restaurant this evening?"
"I'd love to!" Hoseok agreed.
"Great! You should go for a walk around town, I'll meet you later. Believe me, we may be unknown, but our big town is still worth a look!"
She greeted them and left. Jungkook took a quick tour of the room, which was in harmony with the rest of the house, in its rather old style. There was not much furniture, except for an empty desk and a chest of drawers. He opened the drawers and found that they were empty.
"Ah, we'll be able to store our clothes here. Well, especially Yeji, who thought we were going away for a month..."
The young woman took offence at this remark.
"What? I'm simply prepared for all eventualities!"
Hoseok wasn't going to let her go that easily.
"Two travel bags for three days is not prevention, it's abuse." He broke it off.
