Hey y'all I'm super excited for this first chapter. This chapter will be a basic introduction to CAP and this book.
A little bit about me, I am a C/SMSgt (if you don't understand the abbreviations for the ranks, don't worry I will write a chapter on that soon) and I am currently my squadron's First Sergeant. I absolutely love CAP it is one of my favorite things in the world. Other things I like to do are act, dance, read, listen to music, and do crafts. Some specific aspects of CAP that interest are Honor Guard and Color Guard (and yes there is a difference) and Leadership. I would love to know what kind of things interest y'all both inside and outside of CAP so please comment.
Now most of you probably know what CAP is about but incase you don't it is the Air Force Auxiliary and its main focuses are Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs and Emergency Services(ACE). We do really cool things like O-flights were you get to go up in a plane and, once you get to a certain altitude, fly the plane yourself. We also do things like Search and Rescue(SAR), in fact CAP handles 90% of inland Search and Rescue tasked by the USAF. We also do fun things like Honor Guard, Color Guard, and Cyber Patriot.
CAP also has four core values: Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence, and Respect. A good way to remember this is 'You get an IV in the ER'. My personal favorite is Integrity, I would love to know what y'alls are so please comment.
Lastly for this chapter CAP has a Mission/ Mission Statement: Volunteers Serving America's Communities, Saving Lives, and Shaping Futures.
That concludes the firs chapter. Just a few heads up. First off, I am dyslexic so my spelling and grammar are not always the best so please bear with me. Also I love to see y'all's thoughts on the story and different things in CAP, so please comment. If you have questions about CAP that you would like me to write about then feel free to comment or message me. And if any of y'all have funny or interesting CAP stories or experiences please share them, you might be surprised by how many people have had the same thing happen to them and who knows, you could help someone out who may have some of the same struggles as you. Remember, we are all one big team.
Hope y'all enjoyed this chapter. Stay safe and soar high.
