2. The Runaway Consort

"What the fuck....."

After a brief numbing pain assaulted Lian Wei's temple, the first thing his gradually clearing vision saw was some dark narrow lumber positioned atop in either vertical and horizontal position, and a transparent fabric of red covering these lumbers, which Lian Wei took quite a long time to realize that he is somehow lying on a canopy bed; before a quick stream of images forcefully enveloped his vision, appearing to be some strange scenarios that Lian Wei struggled to understand until a few minutes later.

"Shit...." cursed Lian Wei for the second time, a horror look appearing on his face.

What other assumptions could he make out regarding the strange situation he's in now when these images already took the initiative to give him the entire idea, which he's not mentally ready to accept?

Apparently, from those images he saw which seemed to be some memories, Lian Wei is in someone else's body, and that finally stopped him from being an existentialist for a second.... (Because who is he? where is he? And what the fuck is happening?)

Lian Wei is inside Lian Wei. This Lian Wei, is a guy- for sure, but after having an intercourse with the Emperor a year ago for ancient tradition's sake, he somehow ended up bearing a child?

Another. It appears that he's a concubine. A neglected concubine, and he entered the palace along with his eldest brother, who's a bitch- according from how he acted towards Lian Wei in his memories, because he's the one who drugged the poor guy to death due to jealousy, resulting in Lian Wei's appearance now.

Right. This Lian Wei was killed, then Lian Wei replaced him against his will, and the reason for his elder brother's jealousy is currently unknown to the original Lian Wei.

However, initially, his elder brother had been an ass to him since childhood, being the first child birthed from the 'Direct Wife' of Lian Wei's father. Lian Wei, on the other hand, is a mere bastard child from a concubine, hence not only his elder brother, but the rest of his eldest sibling wouldn't stop bullying him- ridiculing him to no end for being a lowly offspring.

Surprisingly, although Lian Wei is the only child coming from a concubine while the rest were birthed from the Direct Wife and Second Wife, he was the most intelligent amongst the 4 children- even passing the county level of the imperial exam and reaching first place. Unfortunately, because of his low rank, in addition to that- he's a Ger he couldn't be accepted in the palace to work.

For whatever reason this 'Ger' meant, it already identifies the original Lian Wei, and because he's a Ger, he couldn't enter the palace as a Minister or simply work as a Scholar, but the current Emperor accepted him as his concubine, along with the eldest brother who participates in the concubine selection and was among the last 3 remaining Gers (Huh? What?), and so through this, the eldest brother became one of the current Emperor's concubines.

It stands to reason that Lian Wei, being the sole concubine who was chosen by the Emperor himself, and not from the concubine selection or the Empress Dowager's orders, everyone will start to assume that he's the most favored out of the 5 concubines he currently have. This assumption was soon proved when Lian Wei suddenly rose from his position to Noble Consort, and was now the first concubine who bore a child only after a mere 2 years of his stay in the palace.

The original Lian Wei should've been prideful for himself, he should've gloated over the other concubines for being the most favored out of all the 5, after all, who would not? Who would not feel proud after having been promoted by the Emperor himself, and even bore his first child who could possibly become the future Crown Prince if Lian Wei ever pushed further and became the Empress?
