Archstar awoke and padded out of her den and through the shallow stream to get to the Tumblerock. She gracefully hopped up to the top and threw her head back into a yowl, calling the words, "let all cats old enough to leap from ledge-to-ledge gather beneath the Tumblerock for a clan meeting!"
Soon, the clan stumbled to sit on either side of the gorge, separated by the shallow stream as nobody wanted to get wet.
"S-so..," Archstar tripped over her words nervously. She had so many cats looking at her! She took a deep breath before continuing, "I need to choose a deputy, medicine cat, and give you all your clan names!" She called. "First, let's do clan names. Branch, we can start with you. Step forward!"
Branch stepped forward.
"I, Archstar, leader of FallClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn," she said. "Branch, do you promise to uphold the warrior code even at the cost of your life?"
"Yes," Branch said with a dip of his head. He was supposed to say 'I do', but Archstar never taught him that, so she just accepted it.
"Then by the power of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forward, you shall be known as Branchclaw! The clan honors your leadership skills and loyalty as we welcome you as a full warrior of FallClan."
Branchclaw stepped back with a dip of his head to let all of the other cats go.
"Does anyone want to go next?" Archstar called.
"I do," a small she-cat said. She had long, white fur, bright blue eyes, and a bright pink collar.
Archstar smiled and repeated the words, this time giving her the name Froststone.
She repeated this until all of the cats had names.
"Now, I must appoint a deputy and medicine cat!" She called. "Let's start with a deputy. Now," she glanced around the clearing of cats before repeating the ceremonial words, "I say these words before StarClan, that they may hear and approve of my choice. The first ever deputy of FallClan shall be Branchclaw!"
Branchclaw looked around the clearing of cats with surprise.
"Branchclaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code even at the cost of your life?"
"Yes," he said.
"Then you are named deputy!" She announced. "You may take your place on the Tumblerock." She flicked her tail to where he was supposed to sit, which was on a smaller ledge on the Tumblerock.
"Now for the medicine cat," she said. "I, Archstar, leader of Call, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this warrior. I believe that she will train hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help she will serve her Clan for many moons. Froststone, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"
Froststone looked shocked. "Of course!" She said.
"Then by the powers of StarClan I name you as FallClan's medicine cat. StarClan honors your willingness to learn and grace, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of FallClan." Archstar said with a smile.
"I won't let you down!" Froststone said with a smile.
"That concludes our meeting! Clan dismissed!" Archstar said, dismissing the clan. "Oh wait, one more thing!"
The clan turned back to face her.
"We should get rid of your collars as a symbol to StarClan of our loyalty, and so that the two-legs can't claim you back."
All of the Kittypets lined up underneath the Tumblerock as Archstar and Branchclaw tore their collars until they broke off. Once Archstar reached Froststone, she hesitated for a moment. Then, she grabbed her own collar with her claws and teeth and tore it off herself. It landed with a thud on the ground. Archstar smiled at her, pleased.
Everything was going according to plan. FallClan was forming.
Everything was perfect.
For now...
