Y/n's POV

It's Monday now, and I felt like a zombie as Asmo and I rode the bus to school. As I leaned my head against the window, Asmo rested his hand on top of mine, "Y/n.. Are you okay?" He said, voice smooth like usual. I didn't answer him and just watched as all the trees passed by, "I really don't want you to get kicked out of the house over... him. I mean, is it really worth it?"

Every word he said went in one ear and out the other. Thoughts of last night kept replaying in my head. Mammon kissing me... Kyle slamming the door open.. Mammon pulling knives out on him... It was all too much for me.

"Y/n-" The bus stopped and I exited before Asmo could keep talking to me. I kept my head down and walked towards my locker, Asmo eventually catching up to me, along with Simeon. "Your dad threatened to kick you out if you keep talking to Mammon? What's up with that?" Simeon asked, eyebrows raised. "Drop it Simeon." Asmo snapped.

"It's probably because he knows what a psycho nutcase he is. Your dad's a smart guy. I don't blame him for-"

My emotions took over, "Simeon, would you shut up already!?" I yelled, turning to face him, barely containing my glow. Everyone turned to us, eyes locked in. "Your opinion of Mammon doesn't matter! You don't know anything about him! I added, tears pooling in my eyes, "None of you do." I hissed and stormed away from everyone. I heard Asmo call out my name, "Just leave me alone..." My voice cracked.

Mammon's POV

It's lunchtime and I scan the room for Y/n. I see her brother and friends at their usual table, but no Y/n.

I huffed then walked over to them, I pushed Asmo's shoulder to get his attention, "Hey. Where's yer sister?" I asked and sat across from her. He glared at me, "Leave her alone asshole." He snapped.

My eyebrows scrunched together, "I don't know what the fuck that was for. But ya get a pass on the ass-kickin if ya tell me where she's hidin'."

Asmo leaned closer, an angered face unchanging, "Why would I tell you?"

I rolled my eyes then stood up, "Hmm alright, she's a nerd so... the library right?" I asked, tapping my fingers on the table. Asmo snapped up and looked at me. I smirked and laughed, "Holy fuck. I'm right ain't I!"

As I started to walk away Asmo grabbed my arm. "Mammon wait." He called out. I turned to look at him, "Kyle is gonna send Y/n away if she keeps seeing you. I don't want to lose my sister, okay? Please leave her alone." My eyes widened and I looked away from his desperate expression. I tugged my arm away from his and walked away.

Y/n's POV

I'm in science class, glued to my phone. I had googled the research center Mammon and I saw in the woods. The results were nerve-racking to say the least.

'...of missing people suspected of venturing into the forest near GAMMA research lab in...'

"Y/n!" I jumped and fumbled to put my phone away. "No phones in class." Mr. Pritchett said and walked over to me. "Sorry Mr. Pritchett." I mumbled. He nodded then held his hand out, "Time to hand in the progress paper for your project."

I quickly opened my backpack and pulled out the neatly stapled papers, placing them in his hands. Mr. Pritchett glanced to my left and back to me, "Where's Mammon?" He questioned, making me look at his empty seat. "I'm not sure.. I think he might be sick." I sighed, forcing myself to stay calm.

"Alright then. The due date is coming up fast, I hope you two will be ready." He then walked back to his desk.
