Liezel
"So is he like Christian Grey?"
After the interview, I came back here to the hospital, to let them know that I am alive and I did not in fact become a new episode of the Criminal Minds. And since I am a Nurse, I have access here in the medicine room. This is where we keep our medicine carts, sharp containers, vials, syringes, over-the-counter, and in-house medicine. However, we also have an in-house pharmacy where we have our pharmacy doctors and technicians, who keep the narcotics that are only allowed to be released by order, mixed IV's, and other hazardous pills that we may need.
Basically, this room is just for nurses to access when we need medicine that doesn't require clearance.
We're sitting here on the floor, facing the shelves of medicine. I am sitting in the middle of these doctors, while we all have our celebratory canned sparkling water because technically, they are still both on-call doctors until tomorrow, so they cannot be intoxicated.
"Come on. I was a Grey girl, that's why I chose to do my residency here in Seattle." Ericka said with a 'duh' tone. Her blonde hair trapped in her scrub cap. "Who knows, maybe I will find myself a kinky hot billionaire daddy. Like shît, I am an independent woman in STEM, but I want my husband to buy me two kinds of Porsche, and buy me a whole bookstore."
We let out a giggle.
"And don't give me that look Guada, I knew you moved here to Washington because you are a Twilight girl."
Guada giggled and did a high five with her.
"Well, more like because of Grey's Anatomy." She replied. "That show is my guilty pleasure because I will still watch it even if most details are medically inaccurate."
We all cringed half-heartedly. Still love that show to death.
"Ugh yeah, but I love the drama. But can you imagine us, real healthcare workers chatting about our personal lives in front of a patient in pain." Guada snorted.
"Or having a freaking break up with my neurosurgeon boyfriend in the middle of surgery. That would be nice."
"Well, McDreamy is nowhere near Mr. Hot-Brooding-Italian-Suit." I said. "And he made your Christian Grey look like a boy," I widened my eyes at Guada.
Intrigue glints in their faces.
"So, the kid is his son. He's not married." Relief then washed over them. "Not anymore because the wife died..."
"Dåmn," Bulong ni Guada at napalagok sa kanyang sparkling water.
Habang sandali namang napakunot ang noo ni Ericka.
"He's Italian, right? What's his last name?"
"Dinelli." I replied as I held the can in my hand. "Marccenzo Dinelli."
I don't know why, but the mention of his name brings a creep of blush to my cheeks. Most probably because I had and still have lingering impure thoughts minutes after meeting the man.
"Hm, that sounds familiar..." Ericka pouted a little as she rested her back on the wall, and then after a few seconds, she turned towards us with wide eyes. "Wait, Dinelli? Shît, my Nana used to tell me a story about a crime syndicate family with that last name who happens to own the whole of Cagliari, which is like this province in Italy."
"Girl, what?" Guada asked, stunned.
Hindi naman ako nakasagot.
"I don't wanna scare you but I hope that whoever your new boss is, just happens to just have that last name, because one of the biggest 'rumored' crime syndicate families in Italy, happens to call themselves Dinelli's. I also use the word 'rumor' because there was never any evidence against them. It's either there are a lot of hateful people who spread rumors about them, or they silence the evidence before it gets to the police."
Napalunok ako. My heart is racing.
"I do remember, every summer that I would go back home for vacation, my Nana would point me to the castle at the edge of the hill in Cagliari, and she would tell me that the Dinelli's were so rich that that castle is theirs."
"That sounds.....crazy....and must be nice to be married to one of those mafia bosses." Guada commented. "Dåmn, I should stop reading dark romances."
We snorted.
"Well, I won't think so, because rumor has it that they have a very conservative and mostly caveman-like-view, like they believe that women shouldn't be working, and in that circle, women aren't allowed to go or to do anything without the husband's permission. They think that men should assume the leader positions and even jobs."
So, you're living with men.
It seems far-fetched, and he could just be an åss—--a hot, mouthwatering, tall åss—--I quickly shut my inner goddess.
Still the thought that I might just unconsciously get myself in trouble has the hairs at the back of my neck rising.
"..Forced marriages are also a thing and I heard about their obsession with having an heir to continue their bloodline."
I then gripped the can in my hand, wordlessly.
"Nah, good thing I'm a surgeon, because performing a castration won't be that hard if a man tries me." Guada said with humor. Ericka giggled, while I chuckled nervously.
Gosh. Now I am thinking that the things that I just got myself into don't seem too good to be true now.
.... Who really are you, Marccenzo Dinelli?....
