Aru and Aiden were being forced to practice with each other. I mean, I get you would have to practice with your partner, but why then? Why now? Why him?

Ding-dong.

"Aru, go answer the door!" Aru's mother called. Aru opened it, and there lied Aiden.

"Shah."

"Acharya."

"I uh, brought these for your mom. And I have to practice here," He grimaced "with you."

Aru looked away. "Ok." She said opening the door a bit more.

Aiden's POV:

Well, she wasn't very welcoming. But I don't think I was either.

I walked in, half expecting a cage full of fire, but got met with Aru's mom.

"Hello Aiden! I've heard so much about you!" Is it just me, or did Aru wince

"Come on," I saw Aru gesturing me to another room. I followed her, and there laid a big piano. I'm used to seeing them, obvi, but it always sparks something in me.

She sat down on one side, visibly irritated, and slid over a bit to make some room for me.

"What song are we playing?" I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know; you have the sheet," She turned red and quickly looked at it.

"Summer by Vivaldi." She said wide-eyed.

"What? That's like the most famous piano duet ever!" I said, amazed.

"You don't think I know?" She said in a low voice. "How are we going to pull this off?"

"Is it too hard for you Shah?" I smirked.

She glared at me. "I'll go print out the music."

While she was doing that, I looked around. There were pictures of Aru and her mom. I knew better than to ask about her dad. I also saw pictures of 4 girls with her, 1 had glasses and short hair, another was tall and kind of intimidating, the last 2 looked similar, but one had a flower crown and looked confident, while the other had sweats on and looked tired. I also saw a lot of pictures of Aru with previous trophies and medals. I hated to admit it, but she was my biggest competitor. Sure the other kids in the class worked hard and preformed well, but everyone knew that we were better. And sometimes its nice, sometimes it isn't, but one thing me and Aru have in common, is our reputations.

"Hey, I'm back and I've got the music," she says, and I turn around.

"Woah." I said. This was one of my hardest pieces by far.

"Woah is right. It took me a while to find a non-copyright website to print this from. Anyways, I'll play right hand."

"Oh yeah. The easy part. Left to hard for you Shah?" I smirked

"Start on your scales, Acharya." She turned red.

I started playing. It was just muscle memory, like my body had known these scales since I was born. C scale, G, D, A, B, E, and F sharp and so on. Aru looked at the piano with her head up, waiting for me to fail. Even though, we both knew I wouldn't do that.

She kind of kicked me off the piano, and started note-writing. She wrote so fast, I mean it was fair since she also played the violin. (A/n: making Aru like me rn) After she finished, she started sight-reading the notes. Even though it was a definitely failed attempt, anyone who didn't know music would say it was wonderful.

"You can write your notes now." She said, moving aside. I started writing as Aru was on her phone. While she was sitting, our elbows touched. We both turned crimson and looked at each other for a moment, and then quickly pulled back.

Aru's POV:

Our freaking elbows touched. Inside of me was screaming in....excitement? Or rage, I have no idea.

"Sorry." I heard Aiden mutter. He was almost as red as me. Unknowingly, I blushed. I saw him writing, he wasn't as fast as me, but still at an impressive speed. He was playng the lower part, which meant he was going to be right beside me. I would be playing the melody for the beginning of the piece, which by itself counted as a piece. This was going to be hard, but working with Aiden would be harder...right?

"I'm finished," He said. Or maybe he didn't. I was still in my daydream. "Shah? Earth to Shah!" He snapped in front of my face.

"Oh yeah, sorry. What's up?" He groaned.

"I'm done. When do you want to start working together?" Together. Together. Together.

"Aiden! Your mom wants you to leave now!" I heard my mom's voice.

"Next week?" I said,

"Yeah, sure. Bye Shah." He said, and then left.

Maybe this won't be the worst thing in the world.
