After Emma had realized what the object was she ran out to the car and hopped in with the intentions of starting it and driving away. She reached to start the car realizing she didn't have the car keys. She laid her head down on the steering wheel taking short shallow breaths. She began feeling dizzy when she heard someone tap on the window startling her. Her eyes met with Keith's piercing blue ones. He made a motion for her to roll down the window but she couldn't find the strength to do so. He tried to open the door only to find it had been locked.
"Emma, open this door." She continued to stare and breathe heavily, her breaths shallow. "Emma breathe it's okay. You're okay just breath. Unlock the door and tell me what's going on."
She fumbled but managed to unlock the door. He opened it and lifted her in his arms carrying her back towards the house. Once they were inside he sat her on the couch and left the room coming back with a glass of water in hand. Emma took the glass in both hands to steady herself. She took small sips and tried to steady her shaking hands.
Keith sat on the coffee table across from Emma and placed his hand on her shaking knee to calm her. She felt a rush of calm course through her body. "Calm down and tell me what's going on"
"Nothing I'm okay" He gave her a look that told her she didn't believe him. She set down the glass of water on the table next to Keith. "I promise. Can we please not talk about it anymore?"
"Alright but only because we have other matters to discuss."
"Um okay, but before we get started where's your bathroom?"
"Just go down the hall. It's the second room on your left."
She mumbled a thanks before making her way down the hall. When she came to the bathroom she looked at herself in the mirror before splashing cold water on her face to snap herself out of it. Before she left the bathroom she tucked her necklace beneath the neckline of her shirt. She made her way back to the living room and saw Keith still sitting in the same spot she'd left him. His head was in his hands, his knees bouncing. She sat beside him.
"Look I know this is a lot for you to take in, but you need to hear it. If at any point you need me to stop then tell me." He looked at her to make sure she was okay with him explaining. She gave a slight nod.
"What am I?"
"Actually it's what we are."
"I'm confused. You said I was the last of my kind whatever that means."
"Yeah, I lied. We are seers the two of us and as far as I know we are the only two alive. There are only a select few that know about me. My parents thought it would be best if it was kept a secret. They had been seers and before they died things were getting out of hand and seers were dying left and right so my parents hid the fact that I am one of them to protect me. We are what we call a seer and as I explained before seers have been known to have many mind powers such as mind reading, telepathy, seeing the future etc."
"So, I'm not alone in this? And you know what you're doing."
"For the most part yes."
" What do you mean 'for the most part'?"
"Well, my parents died when i was pretty young so they never had a chance to teach me how to use my powers. I'm mostly self taught."
"So what you're really saying is that you don't know what the hell you're doing and you're going to drag me down with you?"
"You have no faith."
"Not in you."
"Ouch." He grabbed his chest where is heart was feigning hurt. She rolled her eyes and spun on her heel heading towards the door. " Where do you think you're going?"
"Um, home. I have to get ready for Chloe's party and let Carter know I'm okay."
" Thats not a good idea. Those people are still after you."
"I'm a big girl. I'll be fine."
"Yeah I'm sure you can defend yourself against a group of jacked dudes who know how to use their powers and will do anything to get you."
" Whatever. I'm still going."
He grabbed his jacket from the back of the couch.
"What are you doing?"
"Looks like we're going to a party."
