Conrad was sitting on the boat when he saw as Steven came out. He got onto the boat sitting across Conrad while he knew that things were going to get difficult. He had thought back of the previous night. When he had nearly kissed Belly knowing he should have done it. He had nothing to be afraid of, and suddenly, he was scared of what it could mean for the two of them.
"I think we leave Belly for a few hours. Shayla is still with her," Steven said as Conrad just nodded.
"That is honestly more good than bad. I think Belly needs someone who is able to fully understand what she is going through, and no offense, but we men aren't good with that," Conrad said as Steven looked at him.
"Do you like Belly? And please be honest with me, Conrad," Steven said as Conrad exhaled.
"I do. I really think I do," Conrad said as he chuckled.
"I thought maybe because we were both buzzed last night, Belly getting over a hungover, caused everything to happen, but the more that I think about it. The more I think that I should have just kissed her last night," Conrad said.
"Why didn't you? Because Jeremiah shot a firework your way?" Steven asked as Conrad shook his head.
"Not entirely, no. I mean, that is a good excuse. I'm scared that if I start something with Belly I could fuck it up, Steven. I grew up with her. I always thought of her as this little kid, but now, this summer. She has surprised me. She isn't the same little kid who we went camping with that one time before her eleventh birthday. She isn't the same kid who I taught to throw a football. Who I taught to dance, taught about infinity. She is. She is still the same girl, but, also not," Conrad said.
"I think she may feel scared as well. Because if she screws up she loses one of her best friends," Steven said as Conrad nodded.
"I think I'm in love with her," Conrad softly said.
"Say that again and louder. You know what you want, Con," Steven said.
"I'm in love with Belly Conklin," Conrad said clear.
"Let's go and get her then. She needs to hear this," Steven said.
