It was early when Medkit woke up and saw Subspace, still sleeping peacefully, wraped in the doctor's bed sheets. The doctor got up, took a quick shower and dressed, before making breakfast for both of them, a plate of soft pancakes, coated with honey and some blueberries on top. He gently placed a plate of those on a wooden nightstand, which was next to Subspace and, sat on an armchair, patiently waiting for him to wake up. In meantime, Medkit was enjoying his pancakes and, the scientist finally stirred awake, trying to make sense of his surroundings, slowly came in realisation that he wasn't wearing his regular attire and that his sworn enemy was sitting on an armchair that was beside the nightstand, with a plate of pancakes, waiting for him. Subspace felt confused.

Why did he help him? Why didn't he just leave him there and let nature determine his fate?

The scientist couldn't understand why the doctor would show him such kindness, even though he was still his enemy, he felt something of a strange appreciation for the doctor's help.

"Hm, so you're awake",

Medkit says, while standing up, putting his plate away and slowly approaching Subspace. The scientist didn't want the doctor get close to his previously hurt area, so he aggressively pushed Medkit's hand away when he reached out for him. Medkit was surprised by such immediate action, but he understood that it was probably due the wounds still be sensitive and their past.

"D-don't touch m-me...",

he hissed, with a weak voice and attempted to keep the doctor away, but he really had to check the scientist's wounds, so he used one hand to pin the scientist's both hands on the wall behind the bed, and with the other hand, he started to remove the bandages. The scientist was in pain and tried to get away, but the doctor persisted, ensuring that the scientist's wounds were properly cared for. After applying some cream and new bandages, Medkit noticed that Subspace was frustrated, with a light blush, likely because of his pinned position on the wall. The turquoise horned demon couldn't help but also blush lightly, before releasing the scientist from the wall and handed him the food that was prepared for him. Subspace was a bit annoyed and cautious, and started eating the pancakes quietly. Medkit was also aware of the tense atmosphere, and hoped that Subspace would understand his intentions and appreciate his help. Some time later, Subspace finished eating and, after placing the empty plate back on the nightstand, he quickly rolled back in bed, wrapping himself with Medkit's bed sheets and stood still. The scientist felt a sense of gratitude towards the doctor, but he was also not entirely sure if this newfound respect for his enemy could completely erase their previous rivalry.

"I'm giving you some privacy for now, if you need anything, call me ok?"

The doctor understood that the scientist needed some time alone, so picked up both of their plates  to put them for wash and he left the room, giving him some space. Although they had been rivals for a long time, the fact that Medkit had come to help Subspace showed that he was capable of selfless acts and had a heart underneath his annoyed and indifferent exterior. Despite the tension between them, he had a keen interest in the scientist's health and well-being. He hoped that their rivalry would not get in the way of his desire to care for him.
