Lando sighed as his professor dismissed him from class. His last class of the day, and of course it was the worst class, the fundamentals of BioChem (which was his major).  College had been hitting him hard, and it was especially hard because his boyfriend was around 1409 km away.

While his boyfriend, Carlos, was happy that he had gotten into his dream school (Oxford) it would mean he would leave his hometown in Spain. He was so happy for his boyfriend when he got into University de Barcelona to become a professional editor.

Lando sometimes thought back to when him and Carlos first met. The British man, well boy at the time, and his family had moved to Spain for a job opportunity. Lando could still remember the nerves on his first day of school.

It was like repeatedly being punched in the stomach by a relentless fist. And it wasn't even in a town, or state.

It was a whole other fucking country

Lando knew Spanish, his parent's taught him at a young age, but what if he somehow pronounced something wrong. Or offended the entire country of Spain? He remembered walking into that classroom, head held high, and the first thing that happened was he tripped.

Yes Lando Norris, the amazing (at the time) 5th grader, tripped and fell on his first day of school in a new country. Everyone laughed at him. Except one boy.

Carlos Sainz. The teacher, after checking that he was okay, he was sat next to the young Spanish boy. As Lando's looking through his pencil case he realized he forgot a very vital thing from school.

"Aw shoot!" He whisper-yelled to himself. "I forgot my pencil!" Lando knew people had heard him, as there were snickers throughout the classroom. He wanted to cry, but that was until a voice next to him spoke up. "You can borrow one of mine." A smooth Spanish voice said.

Lando looked over to see a young Spanish boy with a pencil in his hand. They then became best friends, and in their junior year started dating. When college came around, they said that they would be able to handle it.

And Lando was having a hard time being able to handle it. The British man walked back in the rain to his dorm room. In his opinion the rain was perfect. It represented his sadness over missing his boyfriend.

He opened his front door of his dorm room and was met with the sight of his roommate making out with his boyfriend. Lando groaned and flopped on his bed. George, his roommate, immediately separated from Alex, his boyfriend.

"Bad day?" Alex asked. Lando groaned and threw a sock at him. "Miss Carlos?" George asked. Lando liked complaining about how far away Carlos was from him and how much he missed him. "Yeah, to both." He said. "Classes were good, Mr. Vettel didn't give any homework."

Alex looked at his boyfriend, concerned for their friend. They both knew that Lando was having major separation issues. This was the longest he had ever been away from his boyfriend, almost 1 year.

Of course, they always called each other, almost every day. Not every day though, Lando always wished they could. Carlos was very busy with school and his job, so he couldn't blame him.

But whenever Carlos and Lando call, the Brit always says how happy he is, when its the exact opposite. He told Alex it was because he didn't want Carlos abandoning his studies for him. Alex couldn't see one of his best friends be sad.

So he decided to do the one thing that he knew would cheer his best friend up.

Three days later, on another gloomy England Day, Lando was walking back from a particularly bad day at his job. A Karen had yelled at him for accidently not warming up her crossiant at the Bakery he worked at, which prompted his boss to yell at him.

Not to mention he had his midterms in two weeks, and he was not at all prepared. And to top it all off, he still hadn't been able to visit his boyfriend in Spain. They had planned to meet up again a month ago, but Carlos and himself both had very busy schedules so that was a no.

He felt like curling up into a ball and crying his eyes out. George and Alex were visiting George's family somewhere in the UK, so Lando was completely alone.

As soon as he got to his dorm room, he threw his school bag on the ground and jumped into his bed. Sobs wracked through his body as he contemplated why he was even going to college?

He never even wanted to go to college. His plan was to be a professional golfer, but his parents wanted him to have a "respectful" career.

Tears ran down his face as he stumbled into the bathroom. Lando picked and prodded at his face for a good moment before turning on the shower and jumping in.

The hot water ran down his puffy-from-crying face. He was happy he had no classes after this, or over the weekend or any practices until Monday. Lando had the whole weekend to chill and contemplate what to do after college.

And cry. He would definitely be crying a lot this weekend. Lando walked out of his bathroom after his shower and flopped on his bed. Realizing he forgot to put on clothes, he hurried back into the bathroom, not before grabbing some PJ's.

He was glad he didn't have any homework, not that he would do it if he had any. Lando left the bathroom once again, once again, flopped on his bed.

The British man took a look around his room, which was a mess. There were tissues overflowing in a shoebox by his closet and empty water bottles littering his floor (though most of them were George's).

Lando's eyes started watering. He knew it was getting bad again, but if it got any worse the dorm would be a HOT mess. Tears ran down Lando's cheeks as he tried to wipe them away as quickly as they came.

A knock sounded at his front door and the Brit reluctantly got up to answer it. He didn't even care if someone saw him and his tear-stained face. His vision was blurry as he pulled open the door. Lando couldn't tell who it was, but as soon as the person spoke, he knew.

"Oh Cariño." Carlos cooed, taking in his boyfriends' appearance. His eyes were puffy and he was wearing his sad hoodie (it was one of Carlos's, he only wore it when he missed his boyfriend) The Spainard hated it when Lando cried, especially over something as stupid as college.

Before Lando knew it, Carlos had closed the door and wrapped his arms around him. The Brit fisted his hands into his boyfriend's hoodie, sobbing into his chest. Carlos had one hand around Lando's waist and the other in his hair.

His sobs soon turned into hiccups and a small number of tears. Carlos just kept Lando close, whispering reassuringly in ear and running his fingers through his hair. "I missed you." The British man whispered.

Carlos smiled, glad that his boyfriend was feeling at least a bit better. "I missed you more." Lando dragged Carlos over to his bed for cuddles and fell asleep with his head on the older mans chest.

The Spainard fell asleep not long after, to the sound of his beautiful boyfriends breathing.

BONUS SCENE:

Unfortunately, George and Alex's trip had to get cut a day short, as George's mum had Covid. They were walking into their dorm room when they heard snoring coming from Lando's room.

The only person who ever snored like that was Carlos, Lando's boyfriend. George and Alex went to check and sure enough there, the Spainard was, cuddled up to the Brit.

Their hands were intertwined as the snored softly - well Lando snored softly - next to each other.

The Thai man smiled at his boyfriend. "What did you do?" He asked. George smiled proudly. "Brought back Lando's happiness."
