Chapter 13: The Way It's Used

Abby goes inside their home and pulls out a few dummies to use. She lines them up and stands back as Vicky gives a demonstration on how to use Kyo.

"Alright. Are you three ready?" They nod as Vicky smiles and holds out her hand.

"Okay, so you hold out your hand, try to breathe in... and then breathe out. Concentrate hard on the energy inside you and guide it through your body. Once you get the energy into your hand... gather it above and..." A ball of light forms above Vicky's hand. The three stare in awe as she juggles it between her hands.

"Now it may sound simple as I say it to you but you need to have your mind clear of any outlier thoughts. Completely concentrate on the Kyo in your body. Once you do it more often, your body will become more used to it and you'll be throwing more Kyo Blasts like this in my hand." Vicky shoots the Kyo Blast into the air and it explodes like fireworks in the sky!

"Wow... it looks so cool!" Michael exclaimed.

"It's unbelievable that we can harness such a power from within us," Will said.

"I thought the same way when Mother was teaching me. Once you learn it though... It all makes sense. Like your body understands the power," Abby explained.

"Okay, you three... ready to try it yourselves?" They nod as they breathe in and out and start concentrating on the energy in their body.

"Focus Michael... you can do this."

"Come on Will... they say you have a hidden strength inside you. Pull it out if it's true."

"You've been through this multiple times Julie... it should come to you easily."

A breeze blows through the yard... leaving a whistle in the silence of their concentration. The rustling leaves from the trees still don't break their focus as sparkles of light begin appearing in their hands! Michael opens his eyes and smiles as he notices the spark!

"I'm doing it! Yes!"

Sadly... the spark of light dims as he loses concentration. He looks at his hand in shock and then in anger!

"Oh come on! What the hell is that about!" Michael yelled.

"You lost your concentration. Just because you see a spark doesn't mean you can just let go of your focus," Vicky explained.

"Ugh, that's stupid!"

Will and Julie shush Michael as he complains. Michael mumbles angrily under his breath as he sits on the ground. The sparks light up over Will and Julie's hand but the one over Will's dissipates.

"Oh, crap! Ugh, what's up with that," Will complained.

"I will say you and Michael are very far along already. It took Julie a couple of days to reach that little spark. It's clear you know how to handle your energy already. But even then... you won't get it fully on the first try," Abby explained.

"I did it!" They look over to see Julie with a fully grown Kyo Blast in her hand!

"Woah... I'll never get used to seeing that," Michael said, amazed.

"N-Now what?" Julie asked.

"Shoot the Kyo Blast at one of the dummies over here," Abby said. As Julie starts to shoot it, Kyo disappears in her hand. Julie sighs as she looks down at her hand.

"It's alright. You'll get it down soon enough," Vicky comforted.

"Yeah, don't beat yourself up over it! You managed to get a full-sized one," Will said.

"Hmph... sure. You guys managed to get a little sparkle on your first try... I couldn't even do that," Julie said.

"I think we just need more practice! I bet if we keep going at it, we'll get it by the end of the day!" Michael exclaimed.
