It was 3:00 AM. I was lying on my bed, thinking about falling asleep. Not happening. Not with that thing here. It was watching me. It was right there. It was the voice in the back of my head. The one saying the lies. The one who killed a man. It was It. Not me, but It. It. It was not me. It was not me. It was all the doing of It.
I walk into school, feeling the atmosphere in the room switch. They recognize me. The weird kid. The kid who's silent. The kid who robbed the bank. They don't know, though. They don't know it's It, and not me. It was like my own evil twin. I am It. It's the soul that's in me.
I walk into my class, my black hoodie above my head, only looking at the dust-covered checkered floor. I feel everyone's eyes staring at me coldly. Why is he still here? Shouldn't he be in jail? There have been so many rumours. An assassin would come to kill me. The FBI. The SWAT. They thought I shouldn't be here. They're right. I shouldn't be here. For some reason, it felt safer here than anywhere else.
Suddenly, It came. The thing inside of me. It rushed out and took control. It sneered. Suddenly, Its nails grew long, and blood splattered on Its hands. I remember that blood—the blood of the security guard guarding the vault. The one who's been put in his grave. I'm watching from the back of my head, watching It kill everyone. It's like when the dentist makes you breathe laughing gas. I watch blood spill onto the ground. I wait for It to finish. I'm used to this. This has happened before. Soon though, I would give up. It would control my body soon. There was nothing I could do about it.
A few hours later, I left. Everyone at the school was most likely dead. Since I was in control, I quickly returned to my apartment, got my belongings, and left for another town. I checked my phone. 11:00 PM. It would take about 3 hours for the bus to get to the next town, where I hope no one had heard about It.
I got on the bus, looking at the ground and observing my surroundings simultaneously. An Old man in his 80's. A man coming back from work: about 40. Teenager, about 13, the same age as me. Bus driver, in his 60's. I was so tired I almost fell asleep. The city I was going to was Osaka. Suddenly, the old man talked to me.
"Hello, where are you off to, young man?
Being cautious, I pretended that I was deaf, saying nothing and making some ASL that I taught myself. Not sleeping gives you a lot of time to learn.
"Oh, that's a shame."
Four hours later, I managed to get a dim room in a run-down motel. It was 3:00 AM. I sat down on the creaking bed—thinking about my actions. Thinking about It. And, It responded.
Hi.
Be quiet.
Ok.
Ok..?
When will you sleep?
Never.
It's been three months without sleeping, you know that.
Get out of my head, and I will.
Nah. How bout you fall asleep n—
Suddenly everything was quiet. What happened? Suddenly, I heard a clean slice of a blade. I didn't hesitate. Right in front of me, I knew, was some sort of hitman. Everything happened so quickly, and when I opened my eyes, my head was on the ground, swimming in a pool of my own blood. The figure stared at me. It was a boy—specifically the boy on the bus with me. I should have known. He looked at me, a cold look in his eyes. Still, it was ok. I was free. Whether Hell or Heaven, I wouldn't be with It anymore. As I was fading, I did something I haven't done in a while.
I smiled.

Dear Diary, I'm freaking out. Being an assassin is weird in its own way, but tonight something even stranger happened. My 5th and also final assassin mission was bizarre. I went to a run-down motel and saw my target, unarmed and deep in thought. A few seconds later, his head was on the ground, blood everywhere. This is the weird part. As he was dying, he smiled. How weird is that? Then, as I got back home and was falling asleep, I heard a strange voice from the back of my head.
"Hi. Who are you?"
