Scene VI: Of Doves and Wildcats…

ONE MAY NEVER COMPREHEND how small this world truly is! The Radian Vanitas knew, working his days away was an actual Munbro magician practitioner. He would’ve never guessed! But again, that chilly feeling draped him over to the rain outside, wanting to stop his late companion’s slaughter.

“Charming as ever, Zekkeriah…” he spat under his breath as the god arrogantly kept his head high,
his avatar dissipating into thin air as his real self teasingly bowed before the knight. “At your service.”

And thus, the act begun, yet it wasn’t the final act.

The life-long battle of light and dark; good and evil.

Vanitas was not wasting a single second in his intake of oxygen as he sheathed his sword and gave his all, knowing full well his god’s tactics and mind-shattering blow was about to burst. “We both know the way this story ends.” Vanitas spat the words clawing at the other’s heart the most.

“Then, only for a minute, I want to change my mind.” He smiled back, piercing his blade of dark fog into the knight’s back.

Vanitas thanked his own thoughtfulness. If he had still been a human… that swordplay would’ve ended him without delay. Blood spilled, yet he was still standing. He always had been. And always would. For Kazuha, that is.

“This is a warning. You're still a mere human. Act like it, or else…” his chilling baritone whispered into the knight’s ear as the god disappeared right then and there. Never in his life had Vanitas ever gulped. Yet now…

A long breath left him as his sword fell out of hand and harshly clanged in the rain. He kneeled down to pick it up, hoping the threat wasn’t aiming to his boy’s well-being but his only.

He knew very well Zekkeriah can break something in two seconds but it could take forever to fix it.
And if that something was Kazuha, no– Vanitas could never have the sanity to fix that mistake!
Thus, he knew well not to mess with Zekkeriah again but… Vanitas also knew Kazuha is going to overthrow Heavens in just a few years.

It was in the blonde’s blood.

And staying by his boy’s side could mean Vanitas willingly need to kill a god. And he would, honestly if he only knew how. He got so close to the answer yet he was still too far from it. It was lingering at him at just an arm’s length, teasing at his exhausted mind…

Under the arch sheltered the two from the rain, midst of a pool of blood. The cold paladin felt his heart break. Truly break… as Radian was dying yet he had no idea how to help him. How do you offer life to a magician that could  heal instantly on his own…? Izek didn’t have much to live for either, just like Radian, yet for the magician he would offer anything and everything in the world Iz knew of.

Vanitas’ presence brought him out of his trance, holding his partner in his arms as they entered a portal. It led to the cabin the knight lived in Eladrin before the three came to Munbro. Vanitas silently helped treating Radian, a part of him relieved that the magician would be alive and well. It’s been a few years since he had seen Radian after all.

Izek felt grateful for once, even muttering an apology about the whole situation a couple of nights back. And the man in white let the two spend the night there as he went back to Dietrian and the other two little doves of his. Well, a dove and a wildcat. He decided not to tell what happened, leaving everything to Izek as it was his business.
