As Rose slowly opened her eyes, fragments of the previous night flooded her mind.

Flashback

Rose could hear the metallic voice emanating from the tape they had discovered in Garrett's bag, accompanied by a warning about changing IP addresses and the necessity of visual confirmation for payment.

Stiles furrowed his brow and turned to his best friend, asking if he had ever made a wire transfer. Scott glanced at Rose before shaking his head. "Never had enough money," he admitted, his gaze lingering on Rose, who nodded in agreement.

Stiles looked at the two of them, a mix of frustration and concern evident on his face. "So, you didn't understand any of that either?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.

"I don't understand any of this. Why would someone use all this money just to kill us? " Rose, exhausted but unable to sleep, rolled her eyes at the absurdity of the situation. Scott and Stiles exchanged a brief glance, contemplating the answer.

"Someone wants the two of you dead, dude- badly," Stiles reminded them, as if they needed the reminder. Rose didn't respond, instead grabbing a nearby pillow and throwing it at Stiles' face. Scott stood up, gathering their belongings.

"It's late. We have the PSATs in the morning," Scott said to Stiles, explaining his actions. Rose had initially planned to take the PSATs with them, following Lydia's advice to put just do it so she wouldn't worry about it in future. However, after recent events, Scott had insisted that she shouldn't go.

"What about the money?" Rose questioned her brother, her brow furrowed. "It's a substantial amount." She glanced around the room, emphasizing the significance. "Five hundred thousand dollars, Scott... Do you realize how much money that is?" Stiles interjected, cutting straight to the point.

"It's five hundred thousand," Scott began, but Stiles interrupted him immediately. "It's half a million dollars, Scott. What are you planning to do, stash it under your mattress?" he asked, genuine curiosity in his voice.

"I need to talk to Derek. The money belongs to him," Scott stated, his tone resolute. Stiles chimed in, reminding Scott that the money also belonged to Peter.

"Do you really think we should tell Derek?" Scott asked, seeking Stiles' opinion. Stiles hesitated for a moment before responding. "No. No," he said, his voice filled with uncertainty. "Of course, we have to tell him. I'm just... I'm just saying, some of that money belongs to Peter, right?"

Rose nodded, acknowledging the truth in Stiles' words. "Yeah," she admitted. Stiles continued, his apprehension evident. "Right? Peter? The homicidal killer? Are we really going to hand over half a million dollars to him?"

Scott's confusion grew, his mind grappling with the conflicting information. "So, we should give Derek his money back... but not Peter?" he questioned incredulously. Stiles shook his head, clarifying his stance. "I didn't say that," he replied. Rose and Scott looked at Stiles, searching for answers.

Before they could delve further into their discussion, Malia interrupted, her voice filled with urgency. She informed them that she and Derek had discovered Satomi's pack, but they were, apparently, all dead.

End of flashback

Rose spent the entire day confined to her bed, paralyzed by fear and unable to muster the energy to leave the safety of her home. Despite the fact that she was alone, she couldn't bring herself to be rational. As she lay there, contemplating the series of events that had led her to this point, her phone incessantly rang, but she chose to ignore it.
