Where am I supposed to find this moron?
A few weeks had passed by now, the days blurring together uneventfully as she traveled alone, having abandoned all her friends and loved ones.
Normally she'd be pretty uneasy, but it oddly reminded her of her past life. The life she'd lived when her original world had been thrown into a wasteland, all law and order gone. Vena had wandered alone for a long time before meeting that village she'd grown so protective of, so she relied now on those same instincts from before.
Hunting her own wildlife to cook for dinner, studying Sumeru's local flora and occasionally experimenting with them to see how they reacted with others, or what they could be made into when mixed, but the process was a lot more difficult now that she moved camp almost daily and had none of her real equipment with her.
She'd left it all behind in Xiao's teapot...
Exhaling dryly at the unpleasant thought, she continued on, trying to shove away that uncomfortable feeling that now began to settle in her stomach any time she accidentally thought about the ones she'd left behind.
"This is for the best." Was on repeat in her mind, hoping to one day engrave it into her brain so she wouldn't doubt it anymore or debate going back.
The sun was beginning to hang low on the horizon, the signal of another day coming to an end. How many had passed now exactly? It was another thing she tried pretty hard not to dwell on- the passage of time.
It was time to find another safe space to make a camp for the night, the days always going and ending pretty similarly, the monotony beginning to make her feel even more on edge.
Every day that passed actually added onto that feeling, making her feel twitchy and irritable.
After finding a suitable location in a small cave nearby, she began her usual routine of unpacking her sleeping bag and setting up a small fire to cook dinner on.
In the menu today was fish, as was in abundance in Sumeru it seemed, and it was always a safe option until she could do more research on some of the plants local to the area that were new to her.
She'd also snagged an apple from a tree earlier that she now decided to wash off in a river outside to pair with her fish, a surprisingly decent meal given her choices.
As she set her skinned fish across the fire to cook, her eyes examined the apple after taking a bite, obviously far beyond bored.
The most entertaining thing she'd been involved in lately had been stopping to help a caravan that was being attacked by treasure hoarders, yet even they hadn't been much of a challenge for her.
After the roaming villagers had been safe, she'd been sure to ask for directions and all about the nearby landmarks and places of interest, trying to decipher where that annoying Harbinger may be hiding out currently.
Vena had remembered Childe telling them that after Scaramouche had been given Raiden's gnosis, he'd been missing in action. It didn't take a rocket scientist to piece together that he had no intentions of returning it back to the Fatui.
So, that lead to her next question that typically plagued her mind at some point of every night- What exactly could he even do with it?
Not much was known about them other than it's where the archons got majority of their power from, but what use would it be to him? Did he know more about them? Did he have a way of accessing its power? There just wasn't enough information for her to ever drawn a possible conclusion and it was driving her mad.
Not like she wanted to dwell on anything else anyway, she had to keep her mind busy or she ran the risk of thinking about the others-
Taking a rather violent bite out of her apple, the girl exhaled deeply in annoyance, hating what her current life choices were, and how she wasn't strong enough to face any of it directly.
