It was a typical Monday morning of waking up to my alarm beeping at 6:00 a.m. but the night before my world came crashing down. I had found my husband fucking his secretary in his office. I had went to surprise him with dinner instead I'm the one who got the surprise. I had been angry and resigned because we haven't been having sex for over a year now. I shouldn't have been as shocked as I was.
I look over at Josh and sigh. I turn off the alarm and go downstairs. After getting a cup of coffee with sugar, I sat at the kitchen table and look out the window.
I sit dazed and confused on how my life ended up being the way it is. I have a husband that I don't even have sex with anymore and I know that he cheats on me with his twenty-something secretary. My kids are teenagers that are gonna go off to college in a year or so. I'm a housewife that doesn't work anymore and has to rely on the husband for everything. I start laughing and crying at the same time. "God, I'm so tired and done!" I yell and slam my hands on the table.
Running up the stairs and into my bedroom. I pull my suitcase out from the closet and take clothes out of the dresser. I pack for a few days. After that, I get dressed and ready for the day to leave. Going back to the kitchen, I wrote a note on the whiteboard that's on the fridge. The note says "I'm going to stay with Julia for a few days. Love you guys xoxo Mom"
I walk to the front door and take a look around the house I have lived in for 20 years. All the memories that were made. My kids growing up, Josh and I happy and in love, the arguments that happened. The good and the bad happened here. My life wasn't perfect but I was happy until I realized I wasn't for awhile. Turning around, I walk out the door.
