Kagome woke up with a start but couldn't see anything. She had been blindfolded. All she could hear were men speaking a foreign language; if she had to guess, it sounded Russian. Kagome lay on the metal table she was on as quietly as possible. She was hoping that her captors would speak in either Japanese or English.

Kagome heard someone laughing, and her blindfold was ripped off. Kagome kept her eyes closed; the man laughed again, “There's no need for you to pretend to be asleep, Kagome; I know you're awake.”

Kagome opened her eyes and blinked so that her eyes could adjust to the harsh light overhead. She sneered at the man hovering over her; the man smiled, “Good morning, Kagome; I'm so happy you're awake,” The man in the white lab coat said.

Kagome glared at the doctor, “Who are you? Where am I?”

The doctor gave Kagome a fake, abashed look, “Where are my manners? I am Doctor Wilfred Nagel, and I have long been waiting to meet the Winter Soldier's daughter. I must say, I can see some features of him in you, especially your stunning blue eyes.”

Kagome immediately understood her predicament. Hydra had captured her. For what reason, Kagome could only guess. Fear began to creep up Kagome's spine, but Sesshomaru taught her never to show dread to an enemy. Kagome gave the doctor a defiant look; Dr. Nagel smirked at her, “Good, you have your father's spirit; it will be more entertaining to break you as we did your father.”

“What do you want with me?” Kagome demanded to know.

“Why, we only want to unite you with your father,” Dr. Nagel commented, “Oh, and to study those amazing powers you have. Perhaps team up with your father. But first, a little blood test.”

Dr. Nagel ordered his assistant to draw blood from Kagome. Kagome resisted, but her arm was strapped to the metal exam table. The nurse carefully extracted a blood sample from Kagome and left the room with Dr. Nagel. The nurse ran tests on Kagome's blood while Dr. Nagel discussed something with a colleague.

“Should we break her first or inject her with the super soldier serum?” The other doctor asked his superior.

The nurse interrupted, “It won't be necessary to inject her with the serum. The Asset passed it down to his daughter,” The nurse told the two men.

Dr. Negel smirked, “Good, then we can continue with the other experiments.”

The trio walked back into the room where Kagome was being held but were shocked to see a pink dome surrounding Kagome. Dr. Negel grinned; these were the powers that he wanted to see. He tried to walk into the protective dome, but when he touched it, he was burned. He quickly pulled away, “So she can use her powers to protect herself.”

“What are we going to do, sir? Several have tried to breach the dome, but we can't get through,” An underling told the doctor.

“Shoot her. If we can't get past the barrier, she is useless to us,” Dr. Nagel told the guard next to him.

His staff were shocked. After all the time they spent torturing The Asset and observing the girl, would they kill her just like that? The guard looked at Dr. Nigel, and he saw the doctor nod. The guard, too, aimed and fired. To everyone's surprise and Dr. Nagel's delight, the bullet ricocheted the barrier and hit the guard, killing him. Kagome's powers were more potent than he thought; Dr. Negel was convinced it was due to the super soldier serum in her blood.

The doctor decided to untie Kagome and feed her. He calmly approached Kagome and told her his plan. Her barrier dropped, and Kagome was unstrapped for the metal table and given clothes so she could freshen up. When she returned, there was a hot meal waiting for her. Kagome didn't trust these people, but Kagome knew that her powers would inform her if something were wrong with her meal. Thankfully, there was nothing in it. Kagome quickly erected her barrier and ate her dinner under the watchful eyes of her guards.
