A/N: this somehow became longer than expected but i promise its worth it. I wanted to build their friendship up slowly and also his dynamic with the rest of the witches. AND i do wanna start hinting at the TYPE of relationship they r gonna have *wink wink*

Not much happens in this chapter but its important in terms of the relationship build up, the next chapter will definitely speed things along tho

Also lemme know if u like the writing style or if I need to fix it. I wanna make it easy to read and follow the story so any feedback is appreciated!

She realized then that she had just promised to befriend the anti-christ. the bringer of the end of times. The evil incarnate. But for the life of her, she couldn't see him that way.

As Reya distracted Michael from his thoughts and emotions, she realised he really was just like any other boy. The only thing different about him was that he acted too young for his age. "So how old are you exactly?" she asked mid conversation. They had been talking about ducks and why people felt the need to bathe with rubber ducks and not rubber fish instead. Michael found the whole thing incredulous too. "Well, technically I'm 18, like you.". Reya frowned at him. "What do you mean technically?". He looked down and started to fiddle with his hands and Reya wondered whether he even wanted to answer her at all. "I didn't.." he seemed to be finding his words very carefully so she waited, "I didn't grow like a normal..human. I had random growth spurts. Grandma used to say I grew in the night. One minute I was a child and the next I was older."

Reya noticed how his voice seemed to crack at the mention of his Grandma. She didn't know much about her or what had happened but she knew she had killed herself. The reason was unknown to her and she felt empathy towards the poor boy in front of her. What horrors did he go through at such a young age? Regardless, she was unsure what to do with the information about his age. It didn't make sense to her. Michael seemed to register her thoughts and he looked anxious. "I'm still normal, '' he said, looking at her eagerly with his blue eyes. "I'm still human, I swear". Reya didn't know what to do so she smiled at him "I know, of course you are." she then elbowed him and winked, "I don't see any horns or a spikey tail so I think you're good". Michael blushed, and a warm smile spread across his face. She saw him relax and felt guilt in her chest. She had lied to him just now, she didn't truly  think he was human. He was the offspring of Satan himself and last time she checked, Satan wasn't human. But she supposed there must have been some humanity in him. How could there not be? No one who saw his hopeful blue eyes and shy smiles would think to say otherwise.

She looked back at him, deciding to change the subject but her eyes landed on the green clock perched above him on the wall, "shit". Michael noticed her eyes and looked up too, confused. "It's lesson time", she explained to him then hesitated, "Are you going to join us?", she kind of wished he didn't. The part of her that seemed to care for him didn't want him to have to go through the treatment the other witches would surely put him through. She also didn't want him to see the weak witch she was. She wanted him to keep looking at her with adoration like she was someone special. She was sure that when he saw that she was ordinary he would ditch her for someone like Wendy, who, despite being a bitch, was a very powerful witch and no one could deny that. "Yes, Miss Cordelia said it would be good for me to join in. She said I needed to make friends." Reya winked at him, making him blush, "Little does she know, you already made one".

As they walked to the garden for their lesson with Zoe, Reya felt him staring at him. He walked behind her like she was his guard and Reya felt a little pride. It was weird to describe but she felt like she had someone powerful on her side and no one could mess with her. It made her feel a little bad because it felt like she was using him to own up to the witches who looked down on her. It was how she felt when Mallory and her were together. She felt unstoppable.

They reached the garden and saw everyone sitting around a standing-Zoe. She spotted Mallory and Coco and went over to them, Michael following close behind. Mallory looked up and smiled but quirked a brow when she saw the Antichrist. Reya didn't say anything but gave her a we-need-to-talk-later-so-I-can-prove-you-were-wrong type of look. Mal rolled her eyes and averted her attention back to Zoe. Reya noticed Coco eyeing Michael who smiled shyly at her, looking uncomfortable before looking away. Reya chuckled to herself, she really couldn't blame her.

"Today we will be learning about water magic" Zoe started to speak. Reya realized then that, In her haste, she had forgotten her notebook and cursed herself. Michael noticed her expression and leaned into her, "what's wrong?" he asked sweetly. His voice stirred her hair as he spoke close to her. Reya wanted to strangle him and his damn sweet voice. She looked at him then looked away. She didn't think she could look at him for too long before her heart burst. "Nothing, I just forgot my notebook", she turned her attention back to Zoe.

"-filled with healing energy. Water is fluid, and so are we. We are filled mostly with that fluid which makes water magic all that more easier for us-" Michael tapped Reya's thigh, and handed her a notebook. She raised her eyebrow at him. Where did he get that from? He smiled innocently, his eyes expectant, like he was bringing her a war prize. She laughed inwardly at his expression and smiled back, murmuring a thanks, before taking out a pen from her jacket.

"I want you all today to pair up and take turns moving the water to create waves." She smiled at the group,"You can gather by the pond or the fountain." Everyone around them got up and Reya looked at Michael "Wanna pair up?". He looked back with a surprised smile and nodded his head eagerly. She turned to Mallory who looked at Reya oddly but shrugged as she paired up with Coco -who winked at Michael before leaving- and went towards the pond.

The pair also started towards the pond and anxiety started blooming in Reya's stomach. It worsened as Wendy and Jenny, the twins, spotted them and purposely sat near them, all the while giving pointed looks towards Michael. If he noticed, he didn't let on. "You go first" Reya said, keeping her anxiety at bay and extending the time before she would eventually reveal to Michael that she was incompetent and would be no help to him magically. Michael nodded and his eyes focused as he waved his hand over the pond. The water began to sway. She looked in awe as small waves started forming. Michael noticed her look and blushed, "I can do something even better" he told her proudly. He held his hand over the water again and small droplets began to rise slowly. They gathered around them, getting bigger before Michael waved his hands between them and they took the shapes of stars. Reya didn't know what to say. It wasn't something that was hard to do but it was so..pretty. The droplets sparkled in the sun and cast light rainbows around them. "Do you like it?" Michael asked her innocently. "It's so beautiful", she answered back. She was looking at the stars but Michael was looking at her. "It is, isn't it".

He dropped the water and she looked back down at him. "Your turn". Reya felt her stomach twist but didn't say anything. She waved her hand over the water, willing it to  stir. A moment passed and nothing happened. She heard the twins snickering. "Michael, come join us, the real witches". She looked to Michael, wondering if he would actually leave her but he had a serious expression on his face as he looked at her intensely. "Don't listen to them" he said sweetly. "You can do it". There was something in his eyes that made her believe she really could do it. Reya held her hand over the water and after a moment the water stirred. She felt herself perk up but she heard the twins laugh. She looked towards the laughter and saw them creating waves that moved in her direction.

She shook her head and got up frustrated. "I can't do it". She looked to the water. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, Michael, but truth is I'm not that strong. Wendy is right, I can barely call myself a witch." Reya felt Michael staring at her  and then he got up to and extended his hand to her. "Let's try something different" he said quietly. She looked at him and saw the glint in his eye and wondered what he meant. But as she took his hand, she realised. She felt the energy bounce between their joined palms and looked at him, her eyes wide.

Reya looked to the water and waved her free hand over it and the water shot up into the sky. Everyone around them looked up in surprise. Reya felt an excited chuckle escape her lips and Michael laughed too. "Wow.. this is- this feels amazing." She whispered. She turned to face him, "I can feel your-" she didn't get to finish her sentence before the water splashed back down, drenching them both. They laughed in surprised shock.

Maybe being friends with the anti-christ could have its perks.
