Todays prompt was Playing With Hair!
My Brothers Three AU!
Enjoy <3
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dime was simply reading before freezing up as they felt a hand card through their hair. Normally, they would prefer their hair not be touched, but as they turned around they spotted Manny, their younger brother playing with the soft locks. They sighed, and patted the empty seat next to them, turning to sir with their back towards the other.
Manny was doubtful, but eventually sat down, continuing to comb his fingers through their hair. The both of them were completely silent before Dice softly hummed a tune, not wishing to be left completely still as Manny continued to comb through their hair, eventually holding a few locks the best he could and carefully braiding it together, even if the braids were messy.
Manny was completely focused as he continued to try his best to make the braids, it being difficult to do with one hook and one hand. He was trying the best he could though, strongly gripping the others hair but also making sure not to pull too hard as to not hurt his sibling.
Dime continued humming as Elmer walked in, taking aback by the spectacle since his sibling preferred no one to touch their hair, and since Manix usually wasn't this concentrated. He silently left to get some coffee before sitting down and relaxing into his chair, watching the two as he lazily sipped on the bitter drink.
Manny stayed focused even with the distractions of the humming and occasional sips, commanding Dime to stay where they were as he pushed a braided lock into one of their hands, soon getting up to both get something to drink, get make-up and a few elastics for what he was trying to make. An example of his attempt lay on the table, showing a female with multiple braids that led down into one big braid that lay above the remaining hair.
Warren crawled down the stairs, sitting down in the living room for a bit as well, being weirded out at Dice sitting still while holding their own hair, and Elmer watching this as if it was the most amusing part of the year. He shrugged it off, stealing a few cookies at which he saw Dime's glare, but he ignored it, munching on the dough as he sat and stared at the other, challenging them to say anything about it.
Manny had come back with something to drink for both him and Dice, surprised at the sudden company as he placed the drinks down best he could before disappearing for a hair tie once more. Dime was still too afraid to mess Manny's work up, so they sat completely still, even if their arm was starting to ache from the position they were asked to maintain. They did not wish to disappoint or anger the other, so they remained still through the ache.
Manix returned to the scene, an elastic in his hand and a grin on his face as he went back to the hair, making use of his hook and braiding the other side of hair together. Dime didn't complain as the other pulled at their hair, merely hissing when it was pulled too hard. Manny was quick to murmur an apology, trying to be softer but failing slightly. Eventually the first two braids were done.
Manny put the elastic into them, seeming proud of himself as he took a few sips from his hot chocolate, not having wanted coffee over the sweet drink. He giggled as Dice still remained in their spot, slowly sipping on his drink to draw this peaceful moment out. He soon went into a chat with Elmer about what they would do for the next family activity, his older brother soon realising the bit and playing along. Warren took longer to catch on but eventually caught on as well, the three smirking as they started making plans.
They knew by now that Dim wouldn't move, even as the three of them began planning to start the day off by following a tour about axes, then going to a place to make huts in the woods, staying there for a night, before returning to the city, skipping all the shopping districts and going to the various clubs and bars they were, entertaining themselves for these two days.
Dime wanted to argue against it, say that that wasn't going to happen, but they froze at the last bit, remaining still and staring in front of them as it played out. They came back to earth as they felt fingers once more going through their hair, Manny having realised what that would mean for them and quickly laughing it off, saying that its just a joke and that they would never do that, that Dice wouldn't be enjoying it, so it wouldn't count.
They would smile if they weren't afraid to move.
Manny went to braid the last braid, taking it slow and making it as perfect as he could, falling back into his concentration as he slowly finished up the others hair, tying it off with a ribbon and bow. As he finished, he smiled at his work, getting a mirror from under the table and showing it to Dice, who simply turned around and hugged him, mumbling something incomprehensible into his ear before pulling away.
They were smiling softly, very happy with Manny's work as they took their drink, carefully sipping on it as their brothers watched, before smiling as well and starting up a conversation about what they actually should do for their day. They ended on a picnic in the woods. And if some of it was inspired by the braid or the made up version, no one had to know.
Savannah soon came home from school, flopping onto the couch where Dime and Manny were still seated, complaining loudly before complimenting Dice on their hair, afterwards going right back to complaining about her day and about not being allowed to do arson.
Elmer laughed at his daughter, saying he agreed with her as the five of them easily went into a long conversation about the best and worst school subjects, Warren doing his best to keep up as they talked into the night.
