D~
Waking up has always been a battle every morning. My consciousness narrowly avoiding the explosive shots of fatigue. I'm definitely not the only one who has this struggle, right?
Monday morning. The first day of a long 5 school days. I've always tried to look at the positive side of school. Sure, sure, I get an education and it's a privilege as a woman. I understand that part. But what about the actual enjoyment? What about the thrill and excitement?
I drop those depressing thoughts and get out of bed, ready to take a hot and burn-inducing shower. Whenever I have dull mornings like today, I make sure to put on my Punkrock playlist. Waking up to palaye royale really does change your entire day.
I make sure to take my TIME in that shower.
"Jaden!", : I call out to my younger brother.
"Go bath and get ready for school!"One thing this 12 year old can do best, is sleep through anything.
"Calm down Domi, I'm awake." : my brother calls back.
Getting ready did not take that long. Within 45 minutes we were ready to hit the road .
"Deddy! We're going to be late today!": I call to my father who still wasn't ready.
And he said WE took time .
Luckily he got here soon and we were in the car on the way to school.
We dropped my brother off first and soon I saw the familiar gates of hel- I mean my all girls highschool.
"Alright, have a good day and I'll see you later": said my dad
"Bye deddy": I replied back.
Walking down the corridor, I saw a familiar face. My close friend Natalie.
I went to hug her but she moved away and held her hands up. I sighed but knew exactly what was coming next
"Hey dude, how are you doing?" : putting her hand forward for a handshake.
"Remember we're bros, that's gay.""No homo broski" : I said as she let me hug her this time
I put my bag down and turned turned to her:
"Are you ready for the maths test on Friday?"
She frowned and looked at me :" why do you always insist on ruining my good mood and acting like my enemy? Were you not the one who was distracting me with those ugly baboons you kept showing me on TakTak?"
"So you're saying you didn't study because I was a distraction?" I laughed whilst looking at her
"And you know that I am right in saying that": she said to me
All of a sudden I remembered something that had been exciting me the whole weekend.
"pookie ~ , did you hear that some Posch school from the UK will be coming here?" I said excitedly
"Just think about it. A foreign man with a sexy accent is enthralled by your African beauty and just HAS to have you. He courts you like a noble beauty and expresses his undying and infinite love for you as a woman. Meaning you would finally have a taste of romance for the first time in your 17 years of living!" I persuasively said to her
"Domi. You're a clown. An actual clown. As a black woman why are you acting like an uneducated barbarian? Delusions after delusions." Natalie said mockingly to me
"You're just actually a hater at this point, a weapon formed against me that doesn't want to see me prosper. And name the most recent time where I said something so delusional." I laughed back
"Babes, were you not the same person who said she would debut as a kpop idol with your lack of skills and a dark skinned negroid? Were you not the same person who was so convinced that if she tried hard enough she could pull all the Enhypen members, Jobe Bellingham and a random white influencer from America?" She laughed back at me.
Listen, everyone had a few dreams in them. I just happened to be an avid dreamer.
"That's not the point pookums, the point is that it's a new day and new opportunities. Let go of the past." I said to her nonchalantly
"You say this now but you're the biggest coward I know. Next thing you'll be galloping away in fear and embarrassment." Said Natalie
"You make it seems like this is a common occurrence. I'm not exactly a coward but a strategist if you really think about it." I defended
She was right though.
"No but seriously, imagine I meet the love of my life amongst those fellows." I cackled
"That poor man. But what happened to your scheme to find a way for us to travel to South Korea for free? I thought you had a plan." Natalie reminded me
"I've actually given up. Especially considering the fact that we have no artistic talents." I confessed whist laughing
"Haai, I knew it. Never have expectations with this one." She rolled her eyes playfully
"You need to free yourself from these white men Domi. Undo these shackles that bind you." Natalie passionately said
I had to pause before I burst out laughing
"Babes, are you telling me that right now? Were you not the same person who bonded with me over the fact that we had the same dream about us becoming slaves and our love interests being our kind masters who broke away from societal pressure and loved us?? On our first meeting??" I continued laughing
"Are you not the same person who had a dream about me and my bias in Enhypen getting together??" I laughed harder
"That was the past me, I'm ashamed of my past actions." She sorrowfully shook her head
She said this every week but shamelessly went back to her old self after a few days
"But anyway, we'll get ready and prepare for our important guests. Imagine I meet royalty?" Natalie said wistfully
She's just as bad as me
I looked at the time and realised that form period was about to begin.
I said goodbye to Natalie and walked into my class.
To my complete and utter excitement, there it was on the visualiser, the notice telling us of the visit of our European guests.
